what kind of camera are you shooting on?

I took 5 minutes to edit one of your shots because they do have potential. the buildings around you have straight lines, use them to frame a shot. straight lines look better when they're straight in the frame.

So I fail to see what you did. You spoke of framing the shot to the lines etc. So I thought hmmm doesnt look to different....so your "edit" layed over top his photograph with 75% opacity shows you didnt do anything besides try and turn a color image b&w which doesnt always end well. B&W photography should always have a good distinction between a true white and a true black. In your case its nothing but muddy greys. Personally I think the more you lean on your editing skills the worse you are as a photographer. Its not about snap shots that you can later alter, its about have a good eye and capturing that moment then later if you feel it necessary to correct a minor imperfection. Life is imperfect so thats always going to happen.
