Plus they have Union benefits and only have to work 9 months out of the year and still get payed during the other 3. They do like to bitch about how little they get payed, but they aren't broke. According to google the average salary of a teacher is just a little less than Nurses and CPA's starting salaries. Average salary for teachers: http://www.payscale.com/research/US/All_K-12_Teachers/Salary Nurses: http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Registered_Nurse_(RN)/Hourly_Rate CPA: http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Certified_Public_Accountant_(CPA)/Salary And considering teachers only actually work 9 months out of the year, I'd say that's a pretty good deal. If you think they deserve to be payed more, then that's a matter of opinion. But it's not like they're standing in line for food stamps. (New Yorkers and Californians keep in mind that that's the national average. I'm sure they get payed more than that in expensive cost of living areas of the country.)
