One Man Banned
Got a few free sips of this today on tap, amazing, will def keep my eye out for it in the store although I have never seen it in my local stores before. Bonus for The Simpsons reference, and bonus for my regular bartender who has an amazing ass in yoga pants.

One Man Banned
Disappointing, sour taste in it. Seems unlikely to get a skunked batch when it was so recently produced.
One Man Banned
Another craft brewed Mexican style. Definitely beats Modelo, Tecate, Corona, etc.
One Man Banned
Nice to see people doing some different styles of beer. Really don't get the hefeweizen notes they claim to be present. Still drank a bunch of these though.

One Man Banned
Lacks the flavor and complexity you expect to find in a Scotch Ale.

Fist 666
My beer drinking is way down, mostly buying scotches and bourbons of late. But bought a few bombers for Thanksgiving. Will try to remember to take a picture.
Hua Guofang
I've been going absolutely nuts for these lately: A red ale. Not sure I'll drink anything else again, ever. I don't normally drink during the week but all I can think of is having one of these. One's even enough, most of the time. They just taste so dang good. That Modus can up top is 3 standard drinks per can. Had one with dinner tonight, wow. HEll of a taste, quite a kick and at AUD$12 - USD$9 a can, hell of a cost as well. One Man Banned
If that's craft beer that's basically like a $9 quart. A lot of craft brewers in the US are doing 22oz "bombers" for anywhere from $6 on up to $20-30 if they've used some rare or expensive ingredients (can't bring myself to pay much more than $12 and rarely do that). How much is a 6 pack in Aus?
Hua Guofang
That's actually a 500ml can, which means it's actually USD$18 a quart (I think a quarter gallon is just under one litre and this can is half a litre). That stuff is craft beer (not meant to sound snobbish but that's all I drink these days, standard beer is too watery for me now), nobody does any reds in bulk production for the major brewers in Australia. Your super-stock-standard Millers, Coors, Bud equivalents (VB, Carlton, XXXX, Tooheys) are from USD$10-13, your higher standard common beers (Coopers, Fat Yak, etc.) USD$14-17 and your craft beers (Lord Nelson Three Sheets, etc.) are around USD$18 and upwards from there. Tried one of these today: Was pretty damned fine as well. Not a high alc. content at 4.8% but the flavour was just maaaasive. Really enjoyed it. Also very much like the American Pale Ales, this one is called Crankshaft from the Bent Spoke Brewery (pardon the wankiness of the pic, was for sending to a colleague stuck at work) But this is my current all-time fav, A red IPA called Red Nut from Bent Spoke - just fucking phenomenal

One Man Banned
Those brews look great, seems like you guys are getting hosed on the 6 packs though. Not sure if we still get Coopers in the US as I was drinking the AUS/NZ beers years ago but it was definitely under $10 at that time. Seem to remember that we also used to get West End. And of course you find Fosters around, I assume that is like the Bud of Australia. All the more reason to head to the brewery like you have done. Brink
Anyone here into Mead at all?
Fist 666
I've probably tried a dozen different meads over the years. I think its fine. Not bad, not necessarily good either.
Brink
Iv just recently started trying Meads, due to the fact my brother brews them.... I have conflicting feelings about it, was wondering if anyone has suggestions on meads I could try
One Man Banned
Like Fist said, have had many over the years, some great, some not so. There's really a lot of people doing them locally with limited distribution so you may want to look inot that, although with a brother making them I'd hop onto that train. Sorry can't recall names but had a few at a bar weeks ago that were quite good, one was flavored with chili and apple or cherry I think, the other maybe had some blueberry to it. Good stuff to fuck with, you can also keep an eye out for braggots, kind of like crossing mead and beer.
Hua Guofang
I've tried a few meads, not bad but nothing that's rocked my world as yet. Having a couple tonight that I picked up from a local specialty shop. This one was fantastic - an Australian brewer: THis one was sensational, from the UK (was thirsty and forgot to take a pic of the beer itself): THis one is ok but a bit light on the heaviness. From Scotland, not a deep flavour like I prefer in a red ale but would do nicely for a hot afternoon/BBQ:
Hua Guofang
An Australian Brew, excellent: A beer from London, the best of the evening: Have no reds left, so I'm falling back on a tried and true pale:

Hua Guofang
Can't make these suckers straighten up. First one was surprisingly awesome, looked like your standard tryhard mainstream company's version of a craft brew. But, it's awesome, a super full flavored amber..., pretty much a red. The IPA was a good IPA, would have again. The Irish red ale was decent, needed another 2-3 to really get a handle on it.

One Man Banned
Can't make these suckers straighten up. Have had that problem with 12oz before, seems to fix itself if I rotate the pic to the side and back again in the folder, image then saves itself in the upright and can be posted as such.
