don't know if this has been posted but this shit is RAW. Really RAW, but expertly executed.

Alan Clarke is an incredible director with balls of steel. This set also has a short film (30 mins about) called Elephant, and it's not Gus Van Sant's horribly boring piece of shit angsty "epic." Clarke's has no dialogue in it, just IRA assassinations. But each assassination is one take, with some really incredible and long dolly shots. Please do yourself a great service and see these movies...I wouldn't lie about such things...

a great movie. its a Linklater flick so it has a really tripped out animation concept to it.Waking Life is about a young man in a persistent lucid dream-like state. The film follows its protagonist as he initially observes and later participates in philosophical discussions that weave together issues such as reality, free will, the relationship of the subject with others, and the meaning of life. Along the way the film touches on other topics including existentialism, Situationist politics, posthumanity, the film theory of André Bazin, and on lucid dreaming itself. it really makes you think about life itself.

5/5

edit: There's no indicator which of the killings are done by IRA and which by the Loyalists. The film was made for BBC television originally I think.

is scum the one about those kids in juvy? that guy's all "i'm the daddy here now."

yes. that guy is Ray Winstone. also in 28 Days Later, The Proposition, The Departed and about 1000 other films. This was his first feature length film he ever acted in, obviously propelling him to a solid and very dignified career. Made in Britain was Tim Roth's first movie ever, and look at him! Gary Oldman didn't catch his start in a Clarke film, but The Firm is just another great movie where he does a great job. Alan Clarke is a man of instinct....
