H. Lecter
If I had a nickel for everytime La Haine was recommended on this forum, I wish you all were around in 1996 so I could of had someone to talk to about it when I saw it. You know what, with your pompousness, cynicism and sarcasm, I think you just might be the coolest person in this entire forum... And if you did have a nickel for everytime La Haine was mentioned here, you'd probally have enough to buy a pack of gum to keep your mouth busy when you've nothing good to say.. de tout facon, un film louable est un film louable~ sans se soucier de combien fois on a vu le film.. --- I've got to catch up on those Australian recommendations~ Blue Murder looks like it'll be first to be taken from the library~ & Quiet Earth sounds bugged~ It seems like one of those dream corrupters you can't get out of your head Thanks~
mr.yuck
I just watched weather man. I have tried to steer clear of cage movies for the past couple years when i realized that nicholas cage plays himself in every movie he has ever done. I liked the movie. I thought it was pretty funny. I can definately see how it could be misconstrued as a comedy.

SouEstou
LA HAINE In my top 5....or top 7 most definately a classic that gives you something new each time you viddy it, and always deserves mention.. I remember going on a Clockwork Orange bender a couple yrs ago. Read the book, saw the movie, Read about the book and movie, wrote about book and movie. I was thinking in and talking in fucking Nadsat, unintentionally of course. A couple of those words still find their way into my brain somehow. Seeing the look on someone's face when I bust out with the words "rookers" and "govereeting".....embarrassing
society smells
kiss kiss bang bang was good. I saw a scanner darkly a few days ago and that was good. These have probably all been named but City of god, 12 monkeys, romper stompers, night of the living dead, Akira(anime, sorry), snatch, somethin like "shae o'rielly was here" << about two paraplegic guys that move out on their own. Go, traffic.

shitting
Chopper and Stomper get praised alot, but really the aussie film to watch is Blue Murder. It's about police corruption/underworld It's without any theatrics at all (not art-house however) actually, there's discernable artistry in the direction. Its just increbibly well-made. It's just so fucking good, the writing and acting is amazing.. puts all other aussie movies to shame: Blue murder is fucking heavy, it doesn't try to be slick or 'cool' at all (like every other crime flick). The best australian flick for sure, and the best gangster flick I've ever seen period. btw, it's actually a TV movie (2x4 hours) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112538/usercomments
