Had fun at Street League, Sean Malto got 1st, Chaz Ortiz should have won, but missed his last trick, only needed 2.something points, Malto seemed to play it safe the whole time. Revok sat right in front of me. Here's some point n' shoot zoom pics

Groton pros and cons.

Pros:

-Great combination of large and small shit

-Really nice lines. Even someone mediocre like me could cruise around casually without a ton of pushing. Someone who hauls ass like crackteeth could do multiple laps around the place, with various lines, and only push a few times, if that.

-Lights

-free

-no pads required

-no bikes (excluding the one dude who showed up on a bike when it was only three of us there, but i can live with that)

Cons:

-tons of retarded kids snaking people, playing embarrassing flatground games of skate right in the middle of everything, getting in fights with each other, etc. Half the kids there didn't even have boards, they just stood around getting in the way and being obnoxious

-lights shut off abruptly at 10. Good thing neither of us were really tearing around when they shut off, because it goes fucking pitch dark and you could get destroyed.

In conclusion, I would definitely like to go back again at least once or twice before it snows. A weekday would certainly minimize the amount of kids, but that would also require me taking a day off.

Unfortunately, I ended up only shooting a handful of pictures. When all the retarded kids were there, I wasn't really trying to get drilled by one of them who wasn't paying any attention while I was looking through my lens/holding a lot of money worth of equipment. Then, by the time all the kids left, I was too busy enjoying free reign of the park to actually shoot photos. Oh well, always next time.

Here's a few pictures, blurred out to protect the crackteeth. This thing is waaaaay more burly than it looks. I only saw one other person actually make it to the coping, and they instantly stopped trying anything on the wall as soon as they did. crackteeth went at this thing all day.

Oh fuck man. one of those kids was convinced i was pro or some shit, and i just told him some bullshit name like bob jones. the other harry potter kid that actually went home and showered/changed his clothes/put on cologne to talk to my lady was pretty funny. and i ended up yelling a fair amount of gibberish to get him out of my way a lot, too.

Cool flics and I get younger kids asking me the same . The worst is seeing the younger kids go to the skate shop looking for a free handout all the time . Pick up the broom and sweep the front , help carry the shoe orders in from FedEx or UPS , grip a setup and show someone else how to do it , or generally help out in any way you can....that's how you earn a free shop hat , shirt , etc...I've known my friend Brian for 20 years now and still automatically do any of the above or more whenever I'm at West Side Skates . For me it's an issue of respect , which a lot of younger dudes lack .
