i forget what i got, but it was barely enough to get college money. i just squeezed by on that one. i wanted to be in the rangers but i wasn't smart enough (but i qualified to work on heliclopters wtf?). i'd like to take it again just for the hell of it but i don't want a recruiter on my nuts for an indefinite period of time. those dudes are worse than ex-girlfriends. fuck them.

rrrrrrrrrr fuck standardized testing. if i could kill the fucker who invented this shit i would. you cant measure someone intelligence by how long they can give a shit about filling in the right fucking circle. "look at me i filled in all the right circles im so fucking smart please shoot me" gladly

this thread might not even be about that because i didnt read it but it just pisses me off a lot.

I think it's funny that the standardized highschool test in Virginia is called the S.O.L. Standards of learning. Some one here has a good sense of humor.

Either you're on the bus or you ain't

When I joined the Marines at age 26, I did so when I was in college. The ASVAB was a cakewalk. I considered the whole deal an adventure of sorts. I knew it was going to have plenty of negative parts, but I didn't care. I was just hoping that they would overlook the fact that I had been a conscientious objector during Vietnam (when I was 18 and young) and that by some piece of luck, they wouldn't discover that I had been an anarchist for eight years.

I think they knew, but just let me through the system, thinking that if they gave me enough rope, I'd hang my own subversive ass. When I was in boot camp, there was another guy about my age named Peter Ainsworth who was my second squad leader (I was the recruit Platoon Guide---the "head" recruit.) Ainsworth was a great guy, and he seemed to take to Marine Corps life like a duck to water. One night when we were both on"fire watch" (barracks security watch) walking up and down the barracks, he told me he was an anarchist.

I knew right then that my buddy Ainsworth was a nark--probably from NIS (Naval Investigative Service.) No wonder he was such an outstanding recruit--he was probably already a Marine!

I put him to the test, but he didn't know a fucking thing about anarchism, libertarian socialism or anarcho-syndicalism. He tried to play it like he just didn't like the Republicans or the Democrats, so he called himself an "anarchist." Nice try.

I still liked the dude, but from then on, I didn't tell him a fucking thing other than the straight USMC line. "All I want to do is serve my country, and the best way to do that is as a United States Marine. Semper FI!"

Despite the fact that they sent a mole after me, they also tried to get me to become a Marine Corps officer. They offered me the Enlisted-to-Officer Program. I was too chickenshit to say "yes." I thought that maybe by some miracle they had not actually discovered my checkered political past, but I knew that officers have to pass a strict security check, and if they looked very hard at my past, I was fucked. I was also homesick and didn't want to face the prospect of four years of college and then SIX YEARS of being a Marine officer. That was a total commitment of ten years. It loomed in front of me like a prison sentence.

Looking back on it, I was an idiot. I should have said "yes." I would have gotten a free college education. Six years of being a Marine officer is like six years as a high-school football coach. You blow the whistle, they do the drills. I was stupid.

I don't get this shit, I thought graffiti was basically anti-supporting the U.S. and government? And some of you are out there risking your lives for this shithole nation? The ASVAB as shit anyways, it's aimed to make you think you're good at being cannon fodder so they can lure you in and throw you into Iraq. Good day, sir.
