casekonly Posted June 1, 2004 Share Posted June 1, 2004 life advice changed title because it's silly and i've been awake for a long time i've noticed something. something that seems to have preceeded "spring fever". it's like this black cloud of depression and troubles. it's even affected 12oz. i started noticing strange things about a month and a half ago. friends becoming distant, crazy happenings, too many people drowing in drama, etc. luckily, i am getting through it quite well and i thought i might be able to share some advice and wisdom with some of you. first off, i don't pity anyone for their problems. however, i do pity them for their ignorance. we're all ignorant, after all. once we realize this, things seem a bit more "ok". so, let's start this off the right way...gimme your best shot with questions about life, and i'll try to be non-judgemental and provide you with meaningful advice "judge of a man by his questions rather than by his answers" -voltaire Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

fatbastard Posted June 1, 2004 Share Posted June 1, 2004 how do i tell if what im really doing is right and going to make me happy? im 21 at the moment and the way things are going will finish college at about 25, im really unhappy about this considering a lot of my friends finished at 20, 21, 22. what are the chances of a 24 year old australian with a marketing/e-commerce degree finding a job in the united states? i dont even know what i want to know anymore. The education system and graffiti seem to have crushed my spirit. whatever makes you happy is what you should do. if you don't know, take a break. no shame in being a college grad at 24, 25, 26, etc. don't let what is happening to your friends have a bearing on where your life is headed...in fact, don't let what happens to others in their lives, whether it's college, careers, etc. have any effect on you. do what makes you happy. life isn't about success, it's about being a happy person and helping others. do waht you can. as far as being able to get a job in the u.s., i'm sure you can. e-commerce is a big field in almost every country and it's growing every day. don't be afraid. the biggest mistake we, as humans make, is learning to fear things....the unknown, especially. i'm not gonna give you any b/s and tell you that it's not manly to be afraid. we all fear something. every one of is is guilty of it. the truth is, there's nothing to be afraid of. it's just hard getting that into our thick human skulls. edit: here's an idea...make a list of things that make you happy and another list of things that worry you. keep them around and don't show anyone else. just review them once a week and see if you fel the same way in about a year. awareness of ones fears and goals helps you strive towards and overcome.
