Seems that due to Victorian oppression, whites actually admired the freedom slaves had in the 1700's, as slaves weren't subject to such rules. Also, when Lincoln led the Emancipation Proclamation, black folks were still rounded up and told they had to work, but as free men. Lots more I can't remember. I'll grab the interview from the net and upload if anyone is interested. Edit, I remembered one more, slaves weren't beaten as much as is portrayed in movies and books, since you couldn't beat a man and expect him to work for very long. Average beatings were 1 beatings per slave per year. Also, farmers worked much harder than their slaves. Funny how history would have us believe otherwise.
