happy times and raise the red lantern are some of my favorite movies.

i just finished last king of scotland. really damn good. forest whitaker was great.

maybe his best acting role to date.

curse of the golden flower was a bit stale.

Half the fun of those Chinese fighting movies is that there's a lot of travel, scenery and cool places. they are adventure movies

that whole movie was set in a gaudy palace. It was alot like a court intrigue stage play.

it had it's good pionts though

And why was the emperor trying to poison his wife anyway? ...aside from her being a bitch

i think you got that impression because you went into it thinking martial arts movie.

the curse was not in any way a martial arts movie. hes not even a very good action director.

hero and house of the flying daggers were great for alot of reasons but i didnt like the martial arts in it at all. he is basically criticizing china in most of his films. he has alot of double meanings. remember that every chinese film has to pass censors. asian films can be dry if you watch it from a western point of view. and actually im glad that he doesnt do that because it would just be another hollywood piece of crap.

i dont know much about architecture but this was really inspiring.

the guy was broke as hell, didnt even make a building until he was like 60,

had several mistresses, failed at everything but artistic architecture.

his son, who no one even knew he existed, interviews people that knew him

in order to get an idea of what kind of guy he was. (documentary)

i also saw sketches of frank gehry and though it had its interesting moments

couldnt really compare to my architect. it just wasnt very in depth.
