*How Much Would You Charge?*

Recommended Posts

Guest WebsterUno

Some guy is asking me to paint an 8' (8 foot)

ball, to look like earth, from outer space view.

Its this big ass globe, Ill load up the pix shortly.

He wants me to paint it. I am, but he is asking

me how much I will charge him. I dont want to

ask for too much, but I dont want to get too little.

I was thinking about having him pay me in paint,

but...

Any of you ever done a job like this?

What would you charge? Whats fair?

Ill show you guys the ball...its BIG!

Also, he is going to use it for this large

contraption at the Burning Man festival

that is coming up.

Thanx in advance

i charge sixty dollars an hour plus supplie costs.

although we did a bar....45-15 foot full detail mural and charged six hund plus beer.

the biz owner called a pro muralist out the book and came back with a quote for five g's.

we ended up making about seventy a day for painting all day and our names ran on the street till the bar closed down.

one hundred billion dollars.

I don't know that is a rather big surface (like 200 feet of total surface big)

The best bet would to be paid in paint, unless your eye is on other items.

id say ask for 100 and hour but settle for no less than fifty.

painting a globe like that has got to be a giant pain in the ass.

or better yet, call artists out the book and see what they qoute you and base it on that....

to do it in aerosol take you what....3 hours four hours?

plus the shading and the detailing. its meticulous work....worth fifty and hour for the time and effort for a job well done.

and if you got money to blow on a giant burning man contraption...prolly got money todrop on a job well done.

tell him you want something rediculous like $1000 to do the job. Then when he says i cant afford that, ask him along what lines he was thinking and then draw your own conclusions as to whether you will be getting fucked or not.

The guy wants to make it a ride of

some sort for people. The person goes into

the ball, while the ball is spinning, the

contraption will go up and down.

This dude is an old engineer. A lil eccentric,

but smart! Thats him in the flame suit.

So, what do you think is a fair price?

I was going to do it for free.

Then keep whatever paint was left over.

He wants it to look like the view from outer space.

So, not too detailed, but he also wants the clouds

on it, so slightly detailed.

yeah, I thought about doing the job for free..

but then I seen how big it was, and what his

intentions are. Like Old said, if he has money to

spend on Burning Man, and this contraption,

then he should be able to compensate me for

a lil work, no? I have to prime it this weekend,

and next weekend, I will be painting it.

I want to give him a fair price.

$250 bucks sounds fair and he should pay for the paint. double what your estimated time of completion is and you'll prolly come closer to how long it will really take.

charge like 60 bucks and get him to buy your paint and get him to buy extra paint i made 50 and like a crate of paint for doing something in some music video and they ended up not even using that scene in the video.

Now that I've seen him, I'd hook him up. Still make sure you are compensated for work, but I wouldn't take the whole "business deal" approach. Just hook the old guy up for materials + reasonable fee ($250 ballpark) + beer.

I'd just ask him what he thinks is fair.

Don't do this... he will lowball, maybe not intentionally though .... tell him a high number, say $300 and be willing to negotiate down a little.

BEER!

I didnt think of that one!

Thanx!

You guys are all pretty much shooting

the same estimates, so under $300 bills

sounds about right, plus him paying for materials.

He smokes Swischer Sweets out the box,

(plus, check out his duds)...I know dude

has to be a smoker, so it should equal good times,

plus a lil dough on the side for doing

something I enjoy anyway. And, Ill gain

a lil exposure at the Burning Man.

Yeah, Im no pro, so I dont expect like Geez ($$thousands$$)

from this guy, that would be fucked up.
