i've been diagnosed with scoliosis, and as a result i have to wear this big plastic brace around my whole midsection. it sucks alot. it's hot, and itchy, and really really uncomfortable - not to mention it makes my ass look pointy. I've had this thing for about 8 months now, and im supposed to wear it 18 hours a day every day in order to stop the curvature of my spine.....but i havent exactly worn it that much. i occasionally sleep with it on, but usually i just leave it on the floor by my bed.

im afraid to wear it out - especially painting, because i fear it will restrict my movement etc. but at the same time its good protection against being stabbed....

anybody else have similar experiences? stories?

JUST WEAR IT. I'D RATHER HAVE TO WEAR THAT SHIT THAN LET MY SPINE BECOME EVEN WORSE.

i knew a chick who had to wear a big brace on her midsection for 6 months cuz she broke something in her back. shit was clunky as hell, and made it look like she had a third pointy titty ridin somewhere in her midsection.

    so, uh, good luck man.

    :( sorry, that sucks

did you see a chiropractor for it? Maybe some adjustments might help.

yes. ive gone to everybody, even an acupuncturist.

    none of it helped.

the orthopedic guy i see at my local hospital said that if the curvature gets much worse, they might have to graft a metal rod to my spine.

    fuck.

i'd rather wear a short term thing instead of life long bullshit of a rod in my back.

think about how that'll feel in the bad weather.

i go to a massage therapist sometimes.

the only thing that makes my back not kill me, is cracking it on the regular. lean back in the chair, and my spine fucking explodes back into place. i do it like 3 times a day every day. probably not great for me in the long term.

no, i dont think that's very healthy. you're gonna wear down joint capsules and all that important shit, and then youll not only be saying you're balding, but that you have arthritis at the age of 26..
