I GOT H4X0RED

SO I HAD AIM ON AND I WAS LOOKING AT THE PAYPAL WEBSITE. I ALSO HAD SLSK ON. THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN EVERYTHING STARTED MINIMIZING AND CHANGING SIZE AND CLOSING AND OPENING AND MY MOUSE WAS MOVING ALL AROUND THE SCREEN HIGHLIGHTING SHIT WITHOUT ME DOING IT. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT MY COMPUTER OFF AND NOW IT SEEMS OKAY.

 

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

sounds like a trojan. my friend sent me one a while ago, he didnt fuck with anything and told me how to remove it. what he didnt tell me was that it also included some other virus that deleted my whole hard drive a week later. ouch. run a virus scan dude.

getting hacked and getting a virus are not the same things. some viruses do lie dormant for awhile. yes, you can get viruses from soulseek. that's why when you have that shit open you should have auto-protect running.

the only way you can get something like that from soulseek is if it's in a file you downloaded. and it wouldn't be from an mp3 or movie, so if you downloaded any applications or executables in general, then yes, that could do it. but people can't just connect to your computer through soulseek and start manipulating it, you'd have to have a file on your computer that allowed them to do so.

If you got a virus and the people were fucking with your computer then it was most likely a Sub 7. You open the file which is actually a server, and it allows them to have control over your computer. They can open stuff, close stuff, delete stuff, make your cd drive spin/open..all that shit.

huh? i got a virus that locked off my whole computer from me then i had to put everything back on it again after re-installing windows xp

yeah it sounds like a trojan. I've had the same shit happen a few times. I just reformatted that shit. i guess it's a good thing cause I pretty much had every single animation from the gif thread saved on my drive, so it was slow as shit anyways.

The exact same thing happended to me. What you should do is download a CD burning program (the virus we had made it to where you couldn't use the default program), and then recover everything you can onto a disc. Get spyware doctor from http://www.pctools.com (or .net). It's like 30 bucks but it has kept out the viruses from my computer. Ski-doo.
