abrasivesaint
My guess is this will get filed under the “see, negligence won’t go unpunished,” category. I’d be very surprised if more came from this, but hey, i’ve been wrong before. I hope i’m wrong again.

Dirty_habiT
Well I think @abrasivesaintwas saying that someone is going to get punished (for the federal crime at the federal crime level) but this is only "fixing the symptom" of the problem. Basically this is a "slap on the wrist" if all that happens is two low level guards get felonies over this. What **should happen, is the police commanders that allowed the negligence to go on for so long need to be held accountable. ALL of what they're doing should be documented and if it needs to be investigated up the chain how this happened then that is what I would support. I have a feeling that these two guards are just going to be the scape goats and the real people responsible won't see any sort of punishment.

Hua Guofang
Attorney General says he's viewed the tape and it really was suicide. Forgive me if I don't see Barr as a wholly credible source, but you'd expect that if it could be tied back to the Clintons, at a time when the impeachment gig aint going so well for his boy, he'd launch it. What he should do though, is release the footage (understanding that there were no cams on his actual cell because he was off watch, or whatever the story is). There are so many unanswered questions around this and reason for doubt. Justice needs to be seen to be served otherwise the system fails. https://apnews.com/4ff27f28f32d446795b65ac7dd8cc4ac AG Barr: Epstein’s death was a ‘perfect storm of screw-ups’ By MICHAEL BALSAMOan hour ago 1 of 7 Attorney General William Barr speaks with an Associated Press reporter onboard an aircraft en route to Cleveland, Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, during a two-day trip to Ohio and Montana. (AP Photo/Patrick Semansky) ABOARD A US GOVERNMENT AIRCRAFT (AP) — Attorney General William Barr said he initially had his own suspicions about financier Jeffrey Epstein’s death while behind bars at one of the most secure jails in America but came to conclude that his suicide was the result of “a perfect storm of screw-ups.” In an interview with The Associated Press, Barr said his concerns were prompted by the numerous irregularities at the Manhattan jail where Epstein was being held. But he said after the FBI and the Justice Department’s inspector general continued to investigate, he realized there were a “series” of mistakes made that gave Epstein the chance to take his own life. “I can understand people who immediately, whose minds went to sort of the worst-case scenario because it was a perfect storm of screw-ups,” Barr told the AP as he flew to Montana for an event. Barr’s comments come days after two correctional officers who were responsible for guarding the wealthy financier when he died were charged with falsifying prison records. Officers Tova Noel and Michael Thomas are accused of sleeping and browsing the internet — shopping for furniture and motorcycles — instead of watching Epstein, who was supposed to be checked on every 30 minutes. Epstein took his own life in August while awaiting trial on charges he sexually abused girls as young as 14 and young women in New York and Florida in the early 2000s. His death cast a spotlight on the federal Bureau of Prisons, which has been plagued by chronic staffing shortages and outbreaks of violence. The indictment unsealed this week against the officers shows a damning glimpse of safety lapses inside a high-security unit at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. But the indictment also provided new details that reinforce the idea that, for all the intrigue regarding Epstein and his connections to powerful people, his death was a suicide — as the city’s medical examiner concluded — and possibly preventable. A lawyer for Thomas, Montell Figgins, said both guards are being “scapegoated.” The attorney general also sought to dampen conspiracy theories by people who have questioned whether Epstein really took his own life, saying the evidence proves Epstein killed himself. He added that he personally reviewed security footage that confirmed that no one entered the area where Epstein was housed on the night he died. Epstein was placed on suicide watch after he was found July 23 on his cell floor with bruises on his neck but was taken off the heightened watch about a week before his death, meaning he was less closely monitored but still supposed to be checked on every 30 minutes. He was required to have a cellmate, but he was left with none after his cellmate was transferred out of the MCC on Aug. 9, the day before his death, the indictment said. Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell when the guards went to deliver breakfast. One of the guards told a supervisor then that they hadn’t done their 3 a.m. or 5 a.m. rounds, according to the indictment. The Justice Department is still investigating the circumstances that led to Epstein’s death, including why he wasn’t given a cellmate. “I think it was important to have a roommate in there with him and we’re looking into why that wasn’t done, and I think every indication is that was a screw-up,” Barr said. “The systems to assure that was done were not followed.” Epstein’s death ended the possibility of a trial that would have involved prominent figures and sparked widespread anger that he wouldn’t have to answer for the allegations. Even with his death, federal prosecutors in New York have continued to investigate the allegations against Epstein. Barr, who has vowed to aggressively investigate and bring charges against anyone who may have helped Epstein, said investigators were making good progress in the case. “They are definitely pushing things along,” Barr said. “I’ll just say there is good progress being made, and I’m hopeful in a relatively short time there will be tangible results.”
abrasivesaint
Ya thats basically what i meant. I’d be surprised if anyone else goes down because they’ll portray it as “see, the negligence of these guards allowed Epstein to have the window of opportunity to kill himself and now they’re being punished.” If these guards have families, and this was a murder and cover up, i imagine they understand the graveness of snitching. I mean look what happened under their watch, ha. edit: just realized i never posted that^
abrasivesaint
Also just realized i never posted my follow up. That Barr statement made me lean further into cover up than i was before. “i’ve personally seen the tapes.” Ya suck my nuts. Release the tapes. It’s prison surveillance, i can see videos of gang rights and fights but these tapes are precious? Nonsense.

Guest
Dug a bit. Not the model of the AC that has a history of that happening but the style of engine on that model. Closely resemble turboprops that take Jet A fuel but they don’t, they take AvGas. Only 124 of these were made and they are not common. NTSB report goes a little more into detail about what happened with the fueling mishap. Dr flew from FL to OK to sell the AC and train the buyer. Buyer didn’t file correct paperwork for flight plan so the training was scrubbed. Dr was fueling up to fly back to FL. Was probably tired as hell, frustrated and pissed and wasn’t paying attention to what the fueler was asking him. Sad. no link to Epstein can be found other than this FB post. New owner belongs to a law firm(?) in Arkansas and I guess that is the Clinton connection? Lol

Hua Guofang
Even if there was nothing untoward (which is still 100% up in the air for me, I've seen nothing convincing for either side of the argument), the DoJ has done sweet fuck all to show that justice is being done on this account. Given that the underlying stupidity is that the Clintons had him knocked (disregarding that Epstien was close to royalty, the sitting president and a list of other rich and influential people that would also wish he'd go away...), I wonder if Barr is happy to let this fester as it plays into the preferred narrative of draining the swamp, which is also demonstrably fucking stupid. Shits me that justice is not seen to be served, regardless of who is guilty. If it was the Clintons, you'd expect that Barr and te White House would be doing all they could to prove it. It’s not the Clinton’s. That’s the meme but I think it’s much deeper than that and truth be told he had dirt on way too many stupid rich people that hold much more sway than the Clintons. You couldn’t pin point exactly who did him, there’s just too many people that had everything to lose if he ever went to trial. I personally do think anyone who still believes he killed himself is at best willfully disregarding the mass of circumstantial evidence or at worse just plain gullible.

For me it's not anymore about who, if anyone did it. It's about getting to the bottom of it and ending the controversy and restoring trust in the institution of the law..., well, this little part of the law anyway. The fact that it's been allowed to drag on like this strikes me as it's either politically beneficial for that doubt to remain or he was murdered and they don't want to uncover who did it. 1 1
