swordfish meatloaf
KA - the night's gambit (FULL ALBUM) may as well put y'all niggas onto ka for those of you who were sleeping. heads may remember him from way-back-when as a member of brooklyn group NATURAL ELEMENTS. also peep last years' album "grief pedigree". incredibly dark, gutter, almost painful production w/ grim lyricism. upon first listen to his solo work back in like 2009, i was not really feeling his voice, though the delivery was excellent even with his first solo album "iron works". it was far too bleak and emotionless for my taste @ the time, but he truly grows on you. if you're only a fan of boom-bap or something with hard kicks & snares, this may not be the kind of rap to suit you. but if you like that grimy, stripped-down sound w/ haunting strings, electric piano stabs and other chilling (but also quite soulful in it's simplicity) instrumentation, ka's production should be right up your alley. very reminiscent of frequent collaborator roc marciano's first and thus far only quality A+ album "marcberg", only darker. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

swordfish meatloaf
the few tracks from the new mayhem/buckwild album i peeped were nothing special. hoping the rest of the record is up to par as i'm the biggest DITC fan on earf. in my personal opinion, buck is pretty much on point with premo in the sense that he can make the most lackluster emcees go hard as fuck on his production. as far as ap, i haven't bought a record of his since "where's your album?". a little bit of that dude goes a lonnnnnngggg way. heather lewis
best overall band of the last 2 years or so. Their new album that just came out really isn't all that good, imo but their s/t LP from 2012 is them in their prime. wonderful stuff. swordfish meatloaf
still pumping this three years later and this son was @ his absolute pinnacle here and the album was golden. marcberg, in my opinion, is the biggest rap jewel dropped since illmatic or infamous, @ least as far as that ny sound. he encapsulated that era flawlessly and shoulda kept the same formula for his sophomore record. unfortunately, it didn't go down like that.
