vanfullofretards Posted January 5, 2012 Share Posted January 5, 2012 It can be misleading to say it boils "faster." It will still take longer for cold water to boil than for warm water. However, the rate at which the colder water heats up is higher, because the rate of heat transfer is dependent on the difference in temperature between the two items - a larger temperature difference means a faster change in temperature.
