Shittles..TasteTheAsshole
7 million people use NY transit daily. 4 million take the subway alone. Hopefully it isnt a category 2 when it hits NY. Good luck guys, seriously.
ink face
I don't think it'll even be a hurricane by the time it gets to NYC. The water in the Atlantic is too cold. I think the meteorologists are blowing the whole thing WAY out of proportion.

shameless self promotion
Originally my girl and I were going this week, but due to work issues we picked a later date. They just showed buddy's (surf city)...it looks like its about to get dicey. Our place is 2 mins down the road, and we usually eat at buddys on the reg. They have some awesome corn nuggets and seafood, plus you can sit out on the back deck and watch people surf.
Realism
NYC has mandatory evacuation orders for the five boroughs...(as does South County, IHU) I'm just pissed because I'm sitting in Manhattan now getting ready to beat tomorrow's traffic back to RI and had to cancel tonight's drinking/debauchery plans with Empire State friends

grove rat
i will admit that my knowledge of hurricanes is limited due to living in dallas.. but according to this: http://www.weather.com/weather/hurricanecentral/tracker it says that by the time it hits ny it will be a category 1 or tropical storm. will one of those still do a bunch of damage? or is it just the media blowing shit out of proportion? either way, oontz heads stay dry

IHATEU
NYC has mandatory evacuation orders for the five boroughs...(as does South County, IHU) maybe ill get a pie in the face but im just not sold on this shit. last march the warwick mall and half of cranston was under water. amtrak was shut down etc etc. i dont even think this will match that let alone some other legit hurricanes we have got. there will be rain, localized flooding and some wind, not fronting on that but they way they treating this is like its gonna be the northeast katrina of 2011. gtfo. we live in the word of over preparedness. i think they are blowing this shit WAY out of proportion just to get people shook. skullnbones
Are you guys all dead yet??? "New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has ordered the mandatory evacuation of some 250,000 people from the city's low-lying areas as Hurricane Irene barrelled towards the US east coast. The announcement came as US president Barack Obama cut short his holiday to return to Washington DC at the same time residents of some of America's biggest cities braced for the storm. Mr Obama interrupted his summer holiday to issue a warning to the tens of millions of Americans living along the hurricane's projected path. "All indications point to this being a historic hurricane," he said. "If you are in the projected path of this hurricane you have to take precautions now." Irene's wind strength has been downgraded slightly, but from North Carolina to New York, evacuations of beach communities and low-lying areas along America's eastern seaboard were extended, with officials warning of a dangerous storm surge. Over 50 million people are potentially in Irene's path, with the Category Two hurricane packing 165-kilometre winds expected to slam into North Carolina on Saturday (local time) before heading north toward New York. In Massachusetts, governor Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency, joining Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Jersey. Summer resort towns along the 100-mile New Jersey shore were emptying and Atlantic City casinos were closing as officials ordered evacuations and the preparation of emergency shelters. In New York, authorities took the rare step of ordering a complete shutdown of the city's famed subway system from midday on Saturday as the most populous US city prepared for the approaching storm. Mr Bloomberg had previously ordered the evacuation of some nursing homes, hospitals and other vulnerable institutions, but his announcement overnight was the first mandatory mass evacuation since the hurricane began its approach. Governor Andrew Cuomo said major links into New York - including the George Washington Bridge connecting Manhattan and New Jersey - would be closed if winds exceeded 97 kilometres per hour as predicted. Mr Cuomo called the measures "one of the most aggressive activations of New York State government ever assembled in the face of a possible natural disaster." "We are fully committed and we are preparing for the worst," he said in a statement. Mr Cuomo also said up to 900 National Guard troops would be ready to support civil authorities, and 2,500 workers from the Long Island Power Authority would be ready for emergency repair work and tree trimming, the largest ever such deployment. Officials in New York fear Irene could spawn a storm surge up the Hudson River that would swamp lower Manhattan and the city's subway system. Hurricanes are rare on the US eastern seaboard, home to more than 65 million people living in a string of densely populated cities from Washington to New York to Boston." -ABC

ink face
Jesus Christ, IT'S ONLY A CAT. 2. That shit is small potatoes in the world of hurricanes, and they don't even think it'll still be a hurricane by the time it hits the NY area. Media is just hyping everyone up about it. relax. How fucking inconvenienced are you going to be by buying some extra food and drink that you will eat anyways? its not like the news is tricking me into buying something I would never buy. If they're wrong, so what... if YOU are wrong, you are fucked and get what you deserve. People have too much faith in the government and rely on them too damn much after a disaster.
