If you mother went through something as horrible as thyroid issues I would think you'd be a little more compassionate about weight issues, but that's just my thinking. That's great that you're so active. I figured as much since you post regularly in the cycling thread. And I wasn't trying to be a dick, I just found your post to be callous... that's all. I would call them toys but there's a good chance they already know that. as far as witnessing something sad to inspire compassion, i do feel that--but i wholly believe, and i think science pretty much completely supports me, that most cases of obesity are not a result of thyroid failure or the like--rather a reflection of lifestyle and diet. and my mother has been actively losing weight since she put it on, she's putting forth effort to fix the problem--most people don't ever do that i can't throw compassion around to every fat person on the 1/1000 chance they got that way by something other than their own fault. i didn't feel sorry for my friends when they got chlamydia, they could have avoided it... i do feel bad for kids that essentially get raised to be fat. and i understand their plight, i'm just not sympathetic towards people that wallow in their state and never do a thing about it.
