I make various bean dishes every week.

With various beans.

They all have individual flavors, but the end taste really depends on how you season them.

Hummus tastes nothing like black bean soup which tastes nothing like green beans which taste nothing like split pea soup which tastes nothing like refried beans which taste nothing like black eyed peas which taste nothing like butter beans which taste nothing like kidney beans which taste nothing like baked beans.

If they do to you, you should probably quit smoking.

You're totally killing your taste buds, bro.

Everyone here keeps saying they taste different, but it seems most of you acknowledge it's how you cook them and with what spices.

I'm sure the majority of the perceived taste differences are related to texture which is enhanced by preparation - when was the last time you just boiled 6 types of beans and tasted them next to each other? You're all wrong and I voted "they all taste the same"!

SERIOUS BIZNE$$

last time would have been last winter. and it was more like 30 bean varieties, treated exactly the same--same seasonings, same boiling method. only difference was boiling time as some beans take all goddamn day and some only take a couple hours.

obviously some beans are similar--they are all legumes and consist of similar protein values. a bean is equivalent to a fruit--those certainly have significant taste differences because of the plant they come from and from the soil they grow in, same goes for beans.

i didn't want to take this thread seriously, but you drove me to it...

used to deal with this company, awesome source for an incredible variety of beans.
