I dont know if anyone's been paying attention to the 09 Tourist Trophy on the isle of man, but this year is definitely something special: the first electric motorcycle race ever. So far only a handful of videos and press releases have made it out into the internets, but it's definitely worth a look. This is electric motorcycle genesis, and that being said they arent just a bunch of boring two wheeled golf carts parading around "the greatest road race festival in the world" to make environmentalists happy either. HELMETS is it completely retarded that i absolutely do not want a full face helmet? i really like the idea of not grinding my face off on the street, but i hate these things and think they look ridiculous if you're not on a sport bike (where, for some reason, i think open faced helmets look retarded and out of place). i know vanity and asthetics are a dumb reason to forgo safety, but i dont know, im retarded like that. gloves i need to pick up a pair of gloves for my MSF class. it gets WICKED hot here most the year, so i need something light and comfortable. leather. any suggestions? Seeking... do what you feel is right for you but I've had a few rocks find their way into my shield and I'm glad it was there, and not just a pair of sunglasses, to protect me. Whereas you think full face helmets look corney, I think open face helmets with sunglasses and the "outlaw" face mask look wicked retarded. They might as well have a spiderweb tattoo on their elbow... with spiders on it. And gloves, never leave home without 'em. Make sure they're made of leather and they have lots of protection. If you ever go down... you'll be glad you have them. I don't know how many of you who ride wear ear plugs but I don't ride without 'em. Hardtailed Honda Shadow 750, with Hard Krome exhaust, and all the stock lights, except the head light has been replaced with less bulky custom lights. I also had the seat reupholstered with snakeskin and a minimal amount of padding to give it an even lower look. Trust me, I'm from Arizona, been here all my life. The helmet is the least of your worries when your sitting on a bike that 200+ degrees. While you're moving, almost all helmets have vents to allow air flow in and it works similar to how I would imagine a turbin working. Holds all the sweat so when you start moving it's like air conditioning, kinda... We get up to 120+ degrees and I still rode every day with a full face helmet, leather gloves, and a leather jacket. btw, most jackets have removable liners that allow them to vent and accept air flow better.
