can someone further clarify "port forwarding"??

Let me give it a try.

Say all your traffic for a specific program, in this case uTorrent, is going through port 63514. If your pc is hooked straight to your modem, the port should be fine.

PC > Modem > Webernets

But if you're behind a router, that means your pc goes through your router before getting to your modem. Because of this you need to tell your router to open port 63514 so that traffic can get to your modem and to the webernetz.

PC > Router > Modem > Webernets

And an easy test to see if a port is forwarded/working correctly is using this URL (editing the port number as needed): http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=63514 Though uTorrent has a button for this specifically.

Ya good?

Oh PS: I've noticed with some DSL setups that even if you don't have a router, you may still have to forward ports, i don't completely get why though.

I'm usually pretty resourceful with this stuff,

but I'm having trouble finding good video editing software.

Any links to any Avid or Final Cut Pro torrents out there?

I found one for Avid HD Express, but it still required a

USB dongle (I hate that word) which I don't have.

I'm sure there's a crack out there that emulates the dongle. I dig up some links for ya, but i hate torrenting software cause you never know if it works. I would say have a crack at http://www.fulltorrent.net, but they are down, so try http://www.scrapetorrent.com.

As for Dark Days:

Funny, i was thinking about Dark Days about an hour ago.

ok, i know this has probably been mentioned before, but i'm too lazy/tired to look for it... i'm on a mac, using transmission, my only gripe is that (as far as i know) it doesn't have the ability to download specific parts of a torrent. like say for example there's a torrent for a huge file, but i only need part of it. i know there's programs that can do this, i just don't know which ones work on a mac.

any suggestions?
