Say all your traffic for a specific program, in this case uTorrent, is going through port 63514. If your pc is hooked straight to your modem, the port should be fine. PC > Modem > Webernets But if you're behind a router, that means your pc goes through your router before getting to your modem. Because of this you need to tell your router to open port 63514 so that traffic can get to your modem and to the webernetz. PC > Router > Modem > Webernets And an easy test to see if a port is forwarded/working correctly is using this URL (editing the port number as needed): http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=63514 Though uTorrent has a button for this specifically. Ya good? Oh PS: I've noticed with some DSL setups that even if you don't have a router, you may still have to forward ports, i don't completely get why though. xrebelheartsx Posted July 18, 2007 Share Posted July 18, 2007 ok, i know this has probably been mentioned before, but i'm too lazy/tired to look for it... i'm on a mac, using transmission, my only gripe is that (as far as i know) it doesn't have the ability to download specific parts of a torrent. like say for example there's a torrent for a huge file, but i only need part of it. i know there's programs that can do this, i just don't know which ones work on a mac. any suggestions?
