scooped up one o dese for my cargo bike... happy bell for peds and bikes, that dude for cars. its wonderful ...also, im getting tired of bikers acting as if they own the road. flipping off motorists when they are in the wrong and such. hey wait thats probably why i dislike the critical mass. ...so anyone else got a cargo/work bike?

utility>"aesthetics" im finna get a messenger bag, but i got an independent backpack that has held up surprisingly well. i wasnt expecting much since i found it in a basement /nosexcavedungeononer (becasue i can). it haS the skateboard holder deal thing which has been useful to the max to strap stuff to (recently i added a bike frame w/fork, two sets of handlebars, and a wheel. all at once. woot. so i got my fix gear, and recently i impuslively bougt a kona ute. stock. (im not to be trusted with monies) been usin it to haul this n that, what with it being the end of the semester and college kids throwin away appliances/art supplies/furniture etc. but in hindsight im thinkin i shoulda built me up a extracycle. oh well too late. next i wanna build up some form of cyclocross bike, but i want shit to be done proper. i read up on sheldon browns article on bike sizing. im figuring ill just go to the local shop and get sized. does cyclocross geometry differ greatly from roadbike geometry? word

here's a trivial question, but most everybody i ha ve asked (i have asked many a person) doesnt have an answer for me... what do the bicycle racing stripes (i.e. green, yellow, black, red, blue) color scheme mean/where does it come from? is there a history somewhere? on an unrelated note: who all here can build wheels? i will be (kind of) apprenticing with a friend of mine who makes his living selling bikes & wheelsets on ebay/craigslist and i will be building a new back wheel to enable myself to ride the local velodrome (NSC, blaine, mn.) at some point this summer. i was told i need to take classes which makes sense to no let any old fool (me) just hop on and hurt themselves. anyone ever ridden velodrome? done

so at the risk of sounding newb-ish... im doing my damdest (damnedest, damndest, dammdest...hmmm) to try and learn about building/fixing bikes but due to my as of yet undiagnosed learning disorder i have a hard time with it...as i do with everything else.. so how did y'all learn about bike stuff? granted i realize that people on here have been doing it for years, but did anyone take any classes? apprenticeships? etc? i got some people im learning off from im probably just impatient (i am) and want to know now)

  13. how about getting a mesenger job as a second one? my current job is decent but my hours have gotten slashed recently. i applied at a few places around town but they were all booked/not hiring. i dont vave any experience but i am a yeqar-round every-day rider/commuter in minneapolis. apparentl ythe weather is bad here, people bitch and complain about it but its not like you would wear a bikini in january... i just dont like being inside, but i also need the health insurance...
  14. "they put salmon in the fish tacos hank! SALMON!" its probably the only show/movie/anything i can quote. only thing i watch on tv...for the most part. "god, hank hill here, methodist"
  15. a dude at work ordered imself up a bride but she diddnt shave during the winter "no one will know" and she was loud obnoxious and i believe verbally abusive... dude's a tool so i wouldnt be surprised. anyways she left him. end

  17. lets try to resurrect this awesome thread. i've always been a huge fan of mesoamerican art. fucking catholics burning their vast wealth of knowledge. i have really tried to grasp their pantheon but there is just so much out there and my self-diagnosed learning disability prevents me from learning things and such. maybe im not sure. anyways. from the codex borgia Quetzalcóatl (left) and 5 Grass flank a corn plant that symbolises the axis mundi, a sacred point that pierces and connects the heavens, earth and underworld with its leaves, stalk and roots. my favorite XIPE TOTEC "our lord the flayed one" aztec god of spring. priests would flay victims and wear their skins over theirs chasing and scaring children. after several days the skin would dry out and flake off and the priest would emerge as a new being, symbolizing spring. badass
