1) Fuck Charley and Frances. This shit is ridiculous. Storms like this are

supposed to happen once every 10 years, not twice every 3 weeks.

2) Lots of people still fixing shit. Cleanup from Charley JUST finished...

I had loads of debris in the road outside my neighborhood til the day

after Frances hit.

3) This is my uncle's place, I get to stay there while I go to college.

This turtle found its way into the pool. Very cool.

This is the view off the opposite side of the same roof. Note the difference.

Big branch fell off that dead tree.

Large tree in the street.

This large piece of metal

I'm really not sure. I feel obligated to make sure my family down here

will be safe through the storm.. but at the same time, all of my friends

live up in NY and want me to chill there to be safe. It's a tough decision.

i lived in nc for awhile, i know how much that shit sucks. we sat in our schools hallway in a crouthced position for four hours once. someone in the neighborhood across the street from the school filmed it jump over our school. pretty close, nothing is cooler than stepping into the eye of the tornado tho. creepy as hell, but so awsome.

High Priest - Yes, the turtle was fine. After a few laps around the pool,

I skimmed him out and set him along his way in the back yard.

Pffffft - Thanks. Yes there's looting, but not near me, and thankfully

my mom's house didn't get hit when she had to evacuate.

At least the eye isn't anywhere near where I live. Regardless of where the eye is, it looks like I'm still going to get some nasty winds (If it's still considered a hurricane by the time it gets near me). I was really hoping to skim board in the parking lot of my job :D

this whole hurricane shit sucks. for the past 3 days you cant get gas past like 4 because everyone is trying to get gas ALL the time, and most places are out of it. what's most annoying is everyone boarding up, feeling like its armagedon or some shit.

on a lighter note: maybe these hurricanes will scare away all the old people and i can feel a little bit safer on the fuckin road.

there are big trends in hurricanes:

In the last decade, we’ve seen an increase in tropical activity in the Atlantic, and this year that trend will continue. In fact, since 1995, hurricane activity has been on an upswing, and that’s an understatement. In the last nine years, the Atlantic Basin has produced the greatest number of hurricanes and tropical storms in any ten year period since accurate records have been kept. That dates back to the late 1800’s!

What’s causing all this tropical weather? Dr. Gray and the experts blame a gradual change in the ocean’s temperature and salt content. These long-term trends in the oceans have explained increases and decreases in hurricane activity in the past. In the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s, several blockbuster storms hit the U.S. coast. But during the 1970’s, 80’s and early 90’s the cycle was unfavorable for activity, producing fewer and weaker storms, and consequently fewer strikes on the U.S.

Meteorological conditions over past hurricane seasons have kept many storms in the Atlantic Ocean. This pattern is considered part of atmospheric variability, and with at least another ten to fifteen years of active seasons ahead, Dr. Gray says, “that sooner or later, the statistics will right themselves...We will then see unprecedented hurricane destruction in the U.S. similar to the landfalling storms of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s…only now we have more than 50 million people living on the U.S. coast with a lot more stuff to lose”.

monday in the paper they had a wonderful little article describing the appealability of the dakotas after all this. One guy went so far as to already fly his family to ND and is going to start over up there after losing everything in Charley and Frances.

To my fellow floridians: After reading what !@#$% said, would you trade in all the sunshine, sand, theme parks, hurricanes, tornadoes, and 15 million+ people for blizzards, tornadoes, rolling hills, praries, corn farms, and easy access to sunflower seeds?
