anyone know what the name of the town where ferris beuller is from in the movie? it's driving me nuts. i know it's in illinois. any help would be greatly appreciated.

•Any news on a sequel?

No, rumours thus far about a Ferris Bueller's Day Off sequel tho I have heard that Broderick would be ready and willing. But as yet no real sequel rumours, well not to the extent of Pretty in Pink sequel rumours as listed at Coming Attractions.

There was a made for TV movie, using the TV series actors, entitled Ferris Goes to College, and Charlie Schlatter played Ferris. Sortta like the School's Out film for Degrassi, or the Saved By The Bell Goes to Hawaii TV movie. .

•What's this I hear about Anthony Michael Hall and the film?

John Hughes originally wrote the script for Anthony Michael Hall to play Cameron. However after playing Farmer Ted the Geek in Sixteen Candles, Brian Johnson the nerd in The Breakfast Club and Gary Wallace, another geek in Weird Science, Anthony Michael Hall turned down the part of Cameron for fear of being typecast. Enter Alan Ruck and the rest is history. Here is what Anthony Michael Hall said about it in an Entertainment Asylum AOL Chat.

During the filming of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and until sometime in 1987, Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey were dating. Kinda funny know when you think about how Ferris dances to "I Dream Of Jeanie" cos he really did.

I think it's generally accepted knowledge that Jeanie is a younger sister. Tho it is never stated in the film to my knowledge, but this fact puzzles me, as you would think the parents of a family would get the older child a car before his younger sister. My other theory is that are twins, with Jeanie being slightly older however Jeanie doesn't appear to be in any of Ferris' classes which sort of rules that out. Jeanie definitely can't be older however, cos Ferris is in his last year of school and Jeanie still also attends high school.

No, as Cameron stated in the film less than 100 of those cars were made with no two being the same. They are valued at over $3 million US and for more information on the car check out it's cast profile. The car used in the film was actually a modified MGB. And, according to Brad Williams (a visitor to this site), the company that modified for the MGB for this film and others, was actually sued by Ferrari for the use of it's logos, and with all the damages that were demanded to be paid by Federal courts, it actually went out of business soon after.

•Where did they stuff up in the film

According to the IMDB and other sources, here are the film's goofs

-The police officer that escorts Sloane and Cameron away from the float that Ferris is on loses his jacket in an overhead shot.

-At the baseball game, the ball is hit into right field, but caught by Ferris in the left field stands.

-Mr Rooney's suit loses an arm after he rings the Buellers' doorbell.

-The rear view mirror disappears when Jeanie is speeding home.

-Jeanie doesn't undo her seatbelt before she jumps out of the station wagon. And additionally in one shot of the car parked- the seatbelt is slammed in the door of the car and hanging out but when they cut back to the car seconds later- the seatbelt is gone.

-Ferris is confronted by Mr Rooney after 6pm, yet Rooney then gets on a bus full of school children carrying books. (NOTE: John Thompson who grew up in Glenview, Illinois and attended Glenbrook South High School from 84-88 informed me that both Glenbrook South and North had/have what we call late buses for students taking place in afternoon and evening activities. They were scheduled at 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30pm. The routes were longer and required a bit more walking but this could easily be what Rooney hopped on!)

-At the end when Ferris throws the baseball at the stereo, he throws it left-handed (Matthew Broderick is left-handed), but the mitt the ball lands in is a right-hander's mitt.

-Near the beginning of the movie (after Ferris has left) there is a brief scene around the empty house. While the camera is in the kitchen you can see a reflection of one of the set guys moving in the fridge handle.

-Cameron's shirt with the The American Medical Association's symbol changes half way through the movie. You can see how they try to cover it up by turning it inside out, but it still shows.

-When the Ferrari goes through the window and the three of them are standing there, you can see the camera tape on the floor where they are supposed to stand. Also the broken glass on the window changes a bit over the course of that scene.

-When driving home form the city there is obviously a fake backdrop to simulate a moving car. The car can be seen to change lanes but Ferris never actually turns the wheel of the car.

-If you look closely every time a clock is shown you can tell they do not match up. The times match up at the beginning but then proceed to jump back and forth throughout the movie

-The Speedometer only goes up by 10 miles between the time Cameron freaks out and when they're back in the garage, but they stop at a famous Chicago lighthouse when Cameron freaks out that actually is 1/2 hour outside the city

•Isn't there a timeline problem with this film?

The Ferris Bueller Timeline Problem is a theory by J.L. Moss and others. I personally do not agree with this synopsis and upon further deeper analysis, it can be shown that Ferris, Cam and Sloane could in fact fit everything into the specified time period. The one major point that was out of synch was Ed Rooney getting on the school bus at 6pm, but this was even this was recently explained by John Thompson who grew up in Glenview, Illinois and attended Glenbrook South High School from 84-88. Where I grew up, my twin brother and I were not allowed to be in the same class. This was a school policy. Twins often times have trouble making friends, because from day one, they've only hung out with each other. By keeping twins in different classes, they are forced to make individual friends and adapt their social skills. My brother and I went to a therapist for a while, because we refused to make any friends. We would ask to go to the bathroom during class so that we could meet up and hang out for a few minutes.
