DRUNKEN-ASSHOLE-ONER
It's so weird to think all these homes once-upon-a-time had thriving families living in them. Then that Fiat moved in across the street. There goes the neighborhood.
DRUNKEN-ASSHOLE-ONER
Yea, until the trap next door knocks on yours with some metal sayn you cnt be here I doubt the neighborhoods will even change in 20yrs That actually never happens in real life. If it did, gentrification wouldn't exist. At worst they'll just keep robbing everything you have until you come to your senses.
TheoHuxtable..
I swear to god if I wasn't tied the fuck down I'd move to Detroit. Real spit, I been saying this for years that I wanna go there and bomb just to see my shit live. And I been saying it on here for years, long before all these writers from all over making the rounds there. I probably put the bug in most these niggas ears, but by the time I make it there it'll be hipsters and Starbucks on every corner and niggas in spandex jeans and Skrilex hairdo's reminiscing about how sweet it was back when they first moved there. MSK just did a tour out there recently. It's funny how it seems a lot of the graff in Detroit are out-of-towners taking advantage of all of the abandoned neglected buildings. I don't even know if Detroit has a big graffiti scene as far as Detroit natives go... I knew a cat from Detroit who used to tell me he'd always see "TURDL" up, who I think is a native. He'd draw turtles all over the city. On buying those houses. It might be a good investment if Detroit gets gentrified like a lot of other cities are becoming. Buy it for a low price, then sell it at 20 times higher once they move the Starbucks, Whole Foods, and Yoga studios in the neighborhood and it gets filled with hipsters. Realism
That actually never happens in real life. If it did, gentrification wouldn't exist. TheoHuxtable..
Detroit is like what the Bronx was in the late 70s & early 80s... abandoned buildings everywhere and a high murder rate...

injury
Detroit is like the rest of the rust belt. The fact is that unless something big happens (think silicone valley moving to the midwest), places like gary and detroit and youngstown and cleveland and toledo will stay the same. There was too much industry/infrastructure there that simply can't be replaced.
Walid Jumblat
Why did detroit become a city, what took people there in the first place before the motor industry? Is it on a river or something?
Realism
I think it was the capital of Michigan for a while. As far as I know, the growth was really just the automotive industry (keep in mind that kicked off around 1900) and rail/highways making it more easily accessible to the rest of the country. Wikipedia says highways were important. It also says there was a lot of fur trading in the 19th century.
DSD666
the Detroit River....French and Indian settlers. is why niggas came here before I was born. then one day God shot me out of her universe pussy and I landed here, and that is why Detroit is still a city. I have a little over a 1000 flicks on my instahipster, but I am going to shoot flicks just for this thread, to give you guys a better idea of what the east side really looks like. not downtown, not corktown, fuck the west side, and I do not go to southwest cause mexican niggas always want to try and kill me for some reason. I have no idea why. I think it has something to do with rap letters. regardless, flicks when I can, I will try and keep this thread in mind. random east side house, fuck buying anything here, a lot of cats I know tap into the power, and squat. house fires ensue. more another time... edit lols, house is borderline west side... DSD666
I guess I should of added, that the east side of detroit, is like no other city I have seen flicks of, I am sure it is like this elsewhere, but we have whole blocks, a quarter mile in any direction, with nothing but fields. urban farming isn't the worst idea, but research detroits soil and how contaminated it is, and, yeah, that isn't happening in a lot of areas people had hoped. ok I am done talking for now. sell cocaine. DSD666
excuse the rap letters, this is honestly what I would say 30-40 percent of vacant structures are like. burnt, crumbled, you get the idea. but as said, there are whole city blocks with nothing, and then there will be a whole city block full of houses, but most are burnt out, the ones that are not burnt, welcome to Scrap City. rip king nekst. Gat Bush
I got locked up in Southfield once. From what I remember from my various trips to Detroit (twiddles handlebar mustache) before it was a cool city to bomb there it was Money, Turtle, Kosek, Eloaf and another guy who wrote Fire (or something similar) who had it on smash. There were others that I can't recall as it has been a few years since my last visit, but Detroit style always stood out to me. Kinda like west coast with illegal burners everywhere but still very midwestern, very inclusive. That being said, the Detroit of my memory was a very ghetto environment to be around. DSD666
^ you got it about right. LOAF FBS. nigga still kill. FIRE was super smash freeways back in the mid 2000's earlier. I am not gonna go on about Detroit graf history, but you got it pretty dead on. Southfield is a west side suburb, that would honestly be the "hood" in a lot of metro cities. southwest detroit is where it's at if you like gang banging, getting shot at constantly, and border patrol. Telway (burger joint) is a must. I know some niggas that lurk here know southwest niggas.
mackfatsoe
logged in just to say DSD TURN THIS INTO A DETROIT PHOTO DUMP THREAD OK only came thru detroit once for a couple days but it was unlike any place I have ever seen, for many many reasons. was walking thru some abandoned projects on the wrong side of the freeway and met a sanitation worker who was just sweeping the road out there for some fucking reason? even though nobody was living anywhere near where we were at?? she was a black lesbian chick and we hit it off because she liked my tattoos and she invited me to this slam poetry hip hop event at some cutty spot that night. she said she would keep me high all night haha. we passed and lost hella money at the casino instead. I still regret not checking out whatever weird club lesbian poetry scene she was about. my detroit story
DSD666
^ as long as mods don't give a fuck, I am going to post a lot of flicks. just random detroit shit daily. I do flicks shit daily already, but I never save the flicks on my phone. every night before I ass out I will throw the flicks on my laptop so I can post shit. I got some good flicks from the last few days alone. couple weeks ago we had that heat wave, if you familiar with Chalmers, EAST SIDE! there was 4 blocks in a row in my old hood that had fire hydrants blown out. not a big deal in some cities, but when the response time for 911 is fucking never here, and there is a mad heat wave, we kinda need that water, just in case. flicks, I will post them! Fist 666
I'm not super into the pile of shit pictures, but please post away DSD. I spent a week in Detroit in March 2003. Stayed with a friend on ten mile. I don't know what part of town that is, but I thought it was fucking terrible. She gave me a tour of a bunch of burnt out and abandoned spots, and then there were a bunch of places that she wouldn't even drive me near. Definitely remember the TURTL turtles all over the city. KnifeHits RS
Stayed at a place called the Viking motel last summer just based off the name and it being 30 dollars a night. For the first two days the room under ours had its door open wide and none of us could figure out why... We all ended up getting drunk with the Motel owner on the third night. Who, after a few shots, pretty easily admitted that two nights before we showed up some dude chopped up a prostitute in there and left parts all over the room. Coffee machine, microwave, bath tub, etc. Took this pic the next morning and my eyes started watering from the smell. Pussied out on going into the bathroom to get a flick.
