colt45oe800
Show me the recipes. whats involved in making a wort chiller?
Raw fish
basically just a big copper coil you hook up to the kitchen sink, run cold water thru the coil that is sitting in hot wort, run the outflow tube down the drain... the easiest way to roll the copper is wrap it around a 5 gallon keg... the.crooked
Fuse, didn't you and j make one of those recently? Or were going to attempt?
colt45oe800
I've got a 7gallon pale with beer in my basement. but the temp is pushing 72 what would you do to cool it down?
fuse=--action
72 is fine for an ale. It's pretty terrible for a lager. What kind of beer is it? -fuse.
fuse=--action
We wanted to make one but the price of copper is outrageous. We might as well just save up and make one out of platinum. -fuse.
colt45oe800
it is an ale, i didn't want it to keep climbing. but if it stays there then i guess thats fine.
fuse=--action
We are fortunate enough to have a room that is on a separate AC system on hand. We keep that room at 70. Before we thought of using that room though, we just had it chillin in a room in his house. As long as you don't get up to 85 (where the yeasties start dieing) everything should be alright. -fuse. Raw fish
gotta use copper to make the chiller, its the most conductive metal copper IS expensive, hence my offer to pass on the scrap that I have left over from making mine (which is enough to make another one)

lord_casek
my cooper's real ale is done. sorta. it's in my closet, bottled. problem is this: some tastes like champagne. kinda weird. the others i've cracked seem ok. still dark as it's only been bottled for a couple of weeks. alcohol content is up in the air. i doubled the priming sugar. another thing: any good recommendations on a quality homebrew forum? CILONE/SK
I do not know anything about actually brewing beer. But going places where they brew their own beer and trying different beers is something that I really can get into. I can not stand the bullshit mass produced beer that is sold everywhere. So if anyone is brewing anything around the Atlanta area, let me know.
