GLIK$
http://www.apple.com/macmini/ Ive never really used a mac outside graphic editing. Thinking about copping one of these bad boys. Opinions?

misteraven
most definitely. sweet machine if you load up on ram. my only real criticism would be that there should have been at least 64mb, if not 128mb of video ram. regardless, this thing hooked up to a 20" apple display and bluetooth mouse/keyboard = sweetness. i'll probably get one myself as a second computer. SteveAustin
pretty dope. If I didn't need to get a new bad ass mac...I'd probably be interested. apples bringing the funk once again.
Manifesto
i think its worth it if you already have the peripherals, or you can get them for less...like ebay or second hand. its like having a desktop laptop. looks about the size of my lacie external hard drive, you dont have to look at a laptop lcd that strains the eyes, and use the shitty laptop keyboard. Guest
I read that if you get one... do it from the online apple store. Apparently they are just loading them up with perks at a better cost that retailers can do.
Manifesto
shipping wont cost much either since its so small and light..

war pigs
i would wait until the 2nd generation...just because apple usually either releases a vastly improved version, or scraps the shit pretty quickly... remember the g4 cube?

Guest
yeah... the cube had some marjor design flaws. I'm not suprised it wasnt continued. Apple reinvents, not reworks. I wonder when they're going to get back on the newton?
SteveAustin
haha...never. I believe that was Jobs first kill when he went back. its looking like I won't actually have to buy a new machine now. gotta love the power of free.

Still works great for most of my needs but runs a little slow these days when using photoshop and Illustrator. My only complaint is having to tip it over to get to the firewire and usb ports. GLIK$
My desktop keyboard is fine and my laptop keyboard is fine. I dont mind my laptop screen its a nice 15.4" viewable. And the monitor that I have now and would most likely be using on that is 22". This is looking like a possiblity. Next plan is to start saving for a 30" cinema display. Guest imported_b0b
You can get a comparable specced pc for less, so it all depends if you have been converted to the cult of the mac or not.
GLIK$
I have a PC. and a laptop. Im looking for something that can travel better than my PC, but is a bit more functional than my laptop. Im the demographic.

seeking
i wouldnt get the ram from apple. im sure you can find it for much cheaper on ebay. otherwise, shit is dope. if you had to purchase all the peripherals though, it would almost be cheaper just to go with an imac, which is equally (if not more) transportable. i dont know, i'm still a die hard ibook soldja, like whoa. Quoted post Ive collected a retarded amount of monitors from friends. I have a 22" display I'd be using with that mac mini. The bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard are only a cool $99. Im not gonna spring the $475 for 1 gig of RAM, but I'll be going with the 512MB of RAM. B0boner: Yeah I have two PC's here right now that I built for about a thousand dollars with very nice specs. I'd just like to give one of these to the parents. My mother is all about ebaumsworld and email all of a sudden. The stepfather loves porno and cars. So I figure giving them one of these would make their week a little more enjoyable. I've never really used a Mac except for basic photoshopping. I'd just like to learn something new, and this just seems rather nice. Glik's/nah I aint drinking that kool-aid

SteveAustin
no shit? hmmm...thats interesting. I bought some ram a few years back from one of the shops in the back of MacWorld. Seemed to work good. I never had any problems. Of course at the time I bought it, I had been paying attention to all the specs, plus one of my roommates was an IT guy. Seeing as how I have a knockoff battery for my cell phone though...I can see how some shit could be subpar. That battery just died.

Quoted post [/b] Ah should have looked into it more, but in the UK the Mac Mini is $635 not the $499 it is for you lot. Which makes it not so great money wise, I could get a Shuttle mini pc for less than that, which would be silent and higher specced.
