sure, skaters range from the age of 5 to 40, but the core demographic of a skateboarder is 13-16. thats why all the skate mags cater to that age group. which is also why, you dont see car ads in skate mags, and other mature non-endemic ads. but you see those type of ads in surf mags and snowboard mags, where their demographic is towards the late teens into the twenties and even older. for example, big brother and strength was a mature audience magazine, but both of those have folded. the older skater does not keep the industry going. it's the kids and their parents who put money into this industry. Quoted post Theres no point in trying to prove anything to you? you think your so right in the things you say anyways. kids and parents are NOT puting moneyinto an industry with graffiti. do you see parents ordering caps and markers for thier kids to go out and get up? no you dont. before you start talking about things you should make sure you know enough about it. Quoted post [/b] im not trying to argue with you, but its just what i know about the skate industry, is where i was making my point on who the target audience is. but for opinions sake... from your original reply about hitting both markets. do you think graffiti writers really want to buy this shit? its like buying a tribal shirt, or wearing shirts with graffiti on it. just tacky. and you're right, parents arent putting money into the graff industry, which is the reason dalek is making this shit for skateboarding, because there is money in that industry. thats why it aint graff for the skate comunity, cause its a neon space monkey, so parents will buy thatshit. and people that know who he is, dont care. it's been around the block a few times, i dont even know what we were dicussing about. my post was just mainly stating, his shit got bland, but the skate market took it up, [and my original post being, that the skate market is between the age of 13-16], all cause its a lovable chracter.

yeah yeah, that character is played, but think of it. your average demographic for a skateboarder is between the age of 13-16 and male. seeing those colors, that kind of cartoon, and the "history" of the creator as a graffiti artist, makes daleks shit highly marketable.
  4. he left es? when did this happen. my buddy bought the like koston 7's or some shit. they are ok. i really liked the original kostons. and the 3rd ones i think that looked like basketball shoes were dope too. Quoted post [/b] well he left eS and is on Lakai when his contract ends. he's been on the recent Lakai tour to new zealand. Guy Mariano is on Lakai too. hes got his pro shoe coming out in the summer.
  5. OK ... I will spill the beans ..... Those shoes are not the Penny ... that is the Ryder Mid. that color way is super sick but not set to go into production as of right now. It has 3 color ways that will release soon. Only pro rider shoes for the first season will be the EE and the Penny. And who knows from there. Quoted post [/b] yeah confirmed. muska is on supra. kinda made obvious after ASR went down.

  7. this might be corny, but them chopper shows on tv have been making me want to build one, not one of them occ style, chester cheeto bullshits, but like an old triumph, something from the 40s or 50s, where its just frame, motor, and bare bones. i went to a hot rod show recently, and some of those builders had the jankiest choppers, shit was dope, all petina'd and pinstriped. which also got me into pinstriping, i got a couple cans of one shot and some brushes, and been fucking around with that.
  8. make a website. since most job apps are happening through email, having a website ready with all your work will compell the employer to look at your shit right away, instead of taking the time to write to you back, then set up an appointment etc.... especially if youre not the best writer, when talking about yourself. make the website short and sweet. 10-15 best works, ive been told to focus my portfolio towards the field of interest youre most passionate about.. example.. if you want to work in publishing, have your portfolio filled with print design work, or if youre into ad, have mostly ad stuff. in order not to confuse the employer of your objective. i kind of did that, but added a few different pieces just to show a taste of what else i was into. the place i work for now, said one of the reasons why i got the job, is because i had a website ready, while many other applicants didn't... making less hassle for the employer, and making it easy for them to choose who to look further into for the position.
  9. there have been some skaters skating them. its just your generic stan smith.

  11. i dont know, ever since he left 101, i think hes been lost, trying to find another niche, cause he was hot shit with 101, then he fell off a while, then got down with Alien... then he was just going back and forth between coasts, gettin grimier and grimier, i remember seeing him skating in ny round the late 90s, with most of the supreme cats, then he got hooked up with earsnot, i assume whom around the mid to late 90s, was just doing the irak thing on the low, only catchin tags at the skate spots, and not really painting as much. then dill fell hard to the nyc party scene, like many cali skaters come to ny for... and just got hooked, and been here ever since.
