defer Posted October 10, 2009 Share Posted October 10, 2009 to trace an image: 1) find an images 2) trace the shapes 3) man up 4) voila --- there isn't really anything you can do with shading in illustrator unless you are familar with crosshatching. in cs4 they have gradients that can fade to transparency so that might be what you are looking for. as far as smooth transitions of color and pixels, stick to photoshop. photoshop=raster imagery (images made up of pixels) illustrator=vector imagery (images not made up of pixels) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
