No big deal, I am a little torqued up that they bought plane tickets without consulting and therefore are visiting in the middle of the week which means I will have to use vacation time to host. Beyond that it should be fine, they will probably be a little annoying but mostly pretty things like wanting to talk about politics too much etc.

My in-laws are coming for a visit and I am not at all excited to see them.

FYI NOES I have been struggling it out with my electric grill and getting some pretty good meals out of it. So far I have only been using high heat or the smoker setting and have yet to try turning the heat down. It is limiting to not have any sort of indirect option but given the choice of using this or having to go downstairs and set up 20 feet from the building per apartment rules I am happy with the corded option. Never having to think about fuel is nice also but certainly not enough to turn down propane or wood if I had the freedom to choose.

Hard pass from me on that one. Gut feeling that, hard to put into words which does not make for the greatest conversations. I do not trust the companies to have any integrity and I am not interested to find out about my ancestry. Had a family friend pass away recently, this guy never even had a email address, finding anything about him online is very difficult. It's a trip.

The original Cape Fear is very good. Mitchum was a master and Peck made the perfect foil. It would make an interesting double billing with the remake to explore the differences in story telling over 30 years.

It is intense like a punk flyer, I like the left titty focus and handstyle in the out of the fog poster. That movie is like champion level annoying though.

I miss tobacco sometimes, but feel pretty solid that quitting was the best move. I would smoke a cigar if someone offered me one but that is very unlikely. I still think people over react about smoke and smokers.

That speaker scam was running in Seattle in the 90's also but I was always under the impression that while not stolen the speakers were not genuine either.

Why do cooking instruction call for using your hands to wash rice in a bowl of water? Like somehow since it is rice in cold water we should forget about the invention of the utensils generally associated with cooking such as the spoon and rice paddle?

I have fond memories of eating Navajo Tacos either at Pow Wows in Washington State or just at stands in Santa Fe New Mexico as a kid. About a year ago I guess I decided to make some at home being that I am far away from anywhere such a thing could be had. I would have gone for a more traditional fair type topping but went with what we had on hand and it was good. In the course of researching the dish online I found that there was a lot of push back from Native Americans about the dish and it's heritage, along with some love and straight forward videos of grandma's making it super easy looking. At first I was prone to dismiss the hate as sort of "woke" but as I read more about the origins of marching the Navajo from fertile ground and into the dessert and making them dependent on subsidence rationing of flour from the government I was persuaded and once again we find the story of our nation has both greatness and tragedy. I think the last time I had a proper one was buying fireworks at the rez sometime around 2005.
