S@T@N Posted December 3, 2003 Share Posted December 3, 2003 I bought this game about a week ago, and I've been playing it whenever I get any free time. It's absolutely a must-own, must-pirate, must-something... anything, you just need to get this. I may go so far as to share it with a few of you. XIII is a cel-shaded FPS with a comic book layout. The format might be a little hard to swallow at first, but think of it this way: it should run very smooth even on a shitty GPU. The cel-shading in no way lessens the graphics impact of the game, though: the details and backgrounds they put into this game are absolutely amazing. The soundtrack to this game is a Jazz mix, specially composed for the game. The result is intense moods throughout the game that are matched perfectly by the tunes. Each level (I didn't count, but there's gotta be over 30 of em) has its own soundtrack, which allows you to play the game in its entirety without getting bored. Voice-overs match seamlessly, and some cameo appearances are made. You don't find out who the voices are until the end credits... but Jesus, the ones they get are perfect and you should be able to guess who they are throughout the game. The story in this game is intense. The very first scene, you awaken in a first aid station on a beach, with severe amnesia. The only thing on you is a safe deposit key, which the lifeguard tells you can be used at a nearby bank. The story then quickly escalates as you start to be shot at.. Anyway, yeah. You know what? Half Life sucked. Counter Strike and DoD got boring.
