DvOTeR
Ok this isn't really aimed at anyone imparticular but i want to know what other painters reckon of this shit...... Ok what the fuck is with companies saying shit like made by painters for painters, if it were really made by painters, for painters then why the fuck would paint be sooo damn expensive. dont you reckon that is just opportunistic bullshit and sounds more like it should be, made by suckers for suckers. Look how gay does graffiti get when people commercialise it so much as to try and make a profit off others own good times. This doesn't just extend to paint brands but also other getting profit by selling graffiti and pocketing the funds. What type of true painter would jack up prises of paint and try to rip of his friends and families?? When will this shit end. When will people stop commercialising graffiti and not giving props to writers who deserve the credit. I would like to see others comments on this same topic and what you believe a resolution could be.
vinyl junkie
do you expect FUBU to be cheap too? the for writers paint- in my experience- is much better paint... and simply because of how magic ol capitalism works, if it's a good product, then people will want it, so why not charge the hell out of them? it would definately be nice if the stuff were cheaper, but as long as there's a demand it never will be... DvOTeR
yeh it is much better but fuck starting out the prices were a bit steep then with tax they got a bit more expensive but now its just bullshit, Its gone from like $10 a can to many being like $16-$17 bucks a can. With some of those cans for other shit being like over $20 bucks. Ok i dont complain that they are a lil more expensive but farkk not all of us have the $$$$$$$
Guest imported_b0b
It is all the US import duties and the huge tranposrtation costs to the states.. Come to Europe, especially Spain, and it is about a couple of dollars for a can.

I've heard how dirt cheap it is in the source countries....most places overseas dont order in a large enough volume to make it cheap to ship. Plus "graff stores" tend to be real steep on the markups. Bottom line is dont buy it if you dont like it....

tassie toy
I personnaly don't think euro paint is worth it. I bought a can of montana and a can of belton at $14AUS each just to see what the hype was all about. Sure i'ts good paint but when it comes down to it it's style and skill that really makes a piece not the paint.

Bottom line is dont buy it if you dont like it.... That's right. Bottom line is that the money you're paying is going to the government, and to a lesser degree, the shop owner's wallet. If they have to go through another middle man after the export tax, forget it. We're talking like $7-8 US. Buying something like Belton in it's country of origin it's like us buying a can of Krylon. It's not expensive. Buying a can of US made Krylon in Germany is like what buying Belton is like to us. Not to mention that some shop owners, who will remain nameless, want that Rolex and the BMW, so they milk their customers to the fullest extent. It's all about living the cash money lifestyle, and hiphop is going to give it to them, right?

starv
I'm searching for a building right now to open up a graffiti shop. When I get it up i'm going to be saleing Krylon for $1.00 a can. i got the hook up to get it for .50, and I have to make a little so I can keep the bills paid. But I thought a $1.39 drop would be a good thing for painters to hear.
~KRYLON2~
yah what the fuck is all this hype about....more expensive paint isn't going to make your wacked out peice look any better....i've been happy with whatever i could get my hands on..sure i've used some of the euro paint but i didnt pay more than $5 for it...theres no doubt that its better quality but like some one else said whenn it comes down to it style and skill is what makes the peice

I Luv Roo
I was just in Europe and Montana is like 2.50 a can - which isn't bad I guess. So whoever is marking it up to 14 US$ is probably just trying to take advantage of toys who buy paint like that, or paying exorbitant importing fees. The colors are pretty, but I think the attraction is just that its made and marketed for graff.

CAPS
Originally posted by I Luv Roo They don't sell it to writers, they sell it to toys! Ever heard of Cope or T-kid? Just curious. Here is the deal, I know a company (wink nod nod) that was founded "for writers, by writers" and the last thing they are making is profit. They don't intend on making profit and never will make profit. If you compare the prices they offer to ANYONE on the net they are so fuckin cheap in comparision that it's impossible to make profit. They only mark the shit up like 50 cents or a dollar over what they pay for it mainly to pay for boxes and tape to ship. The paint they sell is 4.00 a can but they get it for 3.50 after shipping. DONT YOU THINK that IF they wanted to make it "hood rich" they would be marking shit all up like 200% Funny thing about people who bitch about selling out graff is that graff sold out a LONG time ago. The early 80s (most toys that are complaining wheren't even alive)they made feature million dollar films about graff and breakin. SO deal. Don't hate people tryin to be helpful or maybe they just won't help anymore. You gonna hate art crimes for selling tips to pay for bandwidth? Oh thought not. In ending, If your gonna complain about people selling shit in america, move the fuck out ya commie shithead. It's called capitalism. It's what makes this country great. Go to Cuba or something and see how much you will see for sale. NOTHING unless the government aproves. Go paint, and stop this hate. CAPS.................. what is it with you guys? CAPS
OH YEAH AND ANOTHER THING Tattoos where originally a right of passage. Done for THOUSANDS OF YEARS in the name of spirituality. Now in America , every corner has a tat shop. So have we sold out tattooing? ALSO is it sold out when a crew does a mural on the side of a buisness for 5 or 600 dollars? If it is then some of the best crews and writers in the world are sold out. Is PJ sold out for selling his stock on e-bay? I think yall need to think about things a little more. CAPS.....
