Schnitzel
Thought I’d make a photo thread since it’s dead at work today and it’s been a while since anybody has made one!! I used to love people's holiday threads. Christmas is the only time I can safely take an extended period off work, so I make a point to check out something good. This year was Eyre peninsula west of Adelaide. Bundled kids in car with a bunch of shit and off we went. Sorry in advance this is gonna be a bit like a slide night with your grandparents First stop Port Wakefield one of the worst dumps in history. Birthplace of a racing driver apparently. Apart from that it’s good to take a mid-drive shit/ get a coffee then GTFO. Crystal Brook toilets when I recalled I had a few 12Oz stickers about. Contract killing Crystal brook had nothing open even the pub was shut. Freight train was due through so I was ready for some pics but it didn’t come after ½ hour wait kids were getting bored so we left. Saw train come through 5 minutes after we hit the highway. The road was boring as fuck yellow sign to remind me the roof box I hired was on car so not to go through drive thru’s etc. Spotted this in the distance. It’s a solar thermal power plant the top of the mast is all the reflected solar energy heating up molten salt or something. Reached Port Augusta. Kids hit the pool with mum I went for a sniff around the freight yards. Spotted these geezers drinking water from a leaky pipe. OONtz sticker away Risote from paris all the way out here? would actually be a good spot to paint. between the freight yard and the water behind was a meet up for local indigenous for drinking (can't touch alcohol on the streets and it would be a good spot for a cool breeze). So I stuck to my side of the tracks. Too hot so went and hit the pool
Schnitzel
Next day. Leaving port Augusta heading west Dope water tanks about 40k’s out of Port Augusta bombed by writers from all over Tubby, kievs from Sydney King Puzle, uzi from Melbourne Irok from Brissie Klue from Perth Turn right to western Australia – it’s 1,152 miles to next town with a population more than 3,000 plus you get to visit iron Knob.... Whyalla freightyards for the steel mills Ex navy ship the Whyalla Then there was fuck all for ages Silo artworks Then nothing for a bit finally arrived to discover “street art” has reached Tumby Bay as well. Hit the beach near the house on the wrong side of point so weedy as hell. Took kids fishing – nothing edible caught. Then beach for a few days. Was going to do a great white shark tour but would have cost over $400.00 per person. Plus they don’t let kids under 5 do it because it’s 3 hours each way.
Schnitzel
Headed to coffin bay Liked this mural - don't usually go for commissioned lifelike stuff ( possibly because not a fucking chance I could ever do it And this one was cool but always surprises me how they pay some guy to come from Argentina while bypassing loads of locals. Geese Millions of little shells in every hollow in the sand. Made it painful to walk on as they were just under the sand Water was clear as hell - this a big Oyster farming area Jelly fish Panoramic weirdness Fam liked it.

Schnitzel
Port Lincoln for lunch – forgot nothing was open new year’s day so no fresh seafood for me. Was hoping to buy a kilo of prawns and munch them. Sea rats Grain handling port at end of beach lots of fishing here so lots of sharks out around the pens Razorfish – WTF? Never heard of these before Dead razor fish. Then I accidentally set my phone to take live photos so next two days are missing.
Schnitzel
Driving home we stopped in Whyalla it was hot. Cuttlefish graff halfway to low tide - when it hit it’s lowest point there were people about 1 mile offshore catching crabs. Inflatable shenanigans Steelworks 4
aimer
Awesome pics mate, love getting away along the coast with the kids Can confirm those razor clams are sharp.. sliced my foot open standing on one once, good eating though Some good graff flicks along the way too, agree with you about the silo's though.. no idea why they bring in international artists when we've got so many great local muralists & painters
Schnitzel
Freight trains Final OOntz sticker this pipeline was everywhere seemed to run along the highway for hundreds of K's at a time. actually began to rain. It's been a while since I've felt rain - though not as long as the eastern seaboard. Loco taking off Dead animal Ballast wagons - Iron ore trains loading the barges. These fuckers never stopped. Wanted to check out a trackside spot that might have been a painting spot for these trains, but they never stood still.
Schnitzel
Daughter learning to ride a bike. Trailer park graff. can assure not much in the way of good times was had in that building Kangaroos drinking water off the roadside. They are so dumb they’ll literally bounce along the road for a while next to you. The abruptly change course in mid-air and bolt in front of you and if you hit one they'll probably do some damage Weird protest sculptures.. this means you’re arriving back in Adelaide and the holiday is over.I didn't grow up in SA so I have zero understanding what they are about. Anyways hope you dug them. Was a pretty good holiday and if any of you ever make it down here it's well worth the drive. But bring paint..

Dirty_habiT
Were those parrot fish? They look cool but they destroy stuff in a marine tank. I'm pretty sure they "shit sand" because they eat coral skeleton.
Schnitzel
@Dirty_habiT We call them leatherjackets. they would be pretty similar if not the same as parrotfish. Really strong jaws for eating algae of rocks as well as other things big spike on their heads
