You can basically categorize each episode as: I'm Ray Donovan. or Who are you? I'm Ray Donovan. or Who the fuck are you? I'm Ray Donovan. or Do you know who I am? I'm Ray Donovan. It wont hold up to the first, I feel that one was a master piece. Its still really good though, more of a Neo Noir crime drama, S1 had this Occult Southern Gothic vibe. I'd say they've done fairly well since they're covering a well known story but you're still watching waiting for shit to happen. The first season set a really high bar that I feel the following seasons failed to live up to but they were still enjoyable in their own right. Night Crawler looked like it could have been good but to me, fell flat upon watching. I could see why some people wouldn’t have liked it. I think what I enjoyed most was the pulpy feel it had and having LA at night be a character itself. The acting was over the top but I felt it worked despite its flaws. The story was a bit weak thought it wouldn’t have stood on its own for me it it wasn’t for the cool setting and how it was presented.
