Charlie Haughey's Rediscovered Vietnam Photos

Realism

Recommended Posts

I thought this was very cool, and I hope a few of you guys do as well. It's from a couple months back, but I know it never popped up here.

Charlie Haughey was drafted as a rifleman in Vietnam, and later became a photographer for the military. His pictures were generally published in military newspapers. He took almost 2,000 shots between 1968 and 1969, which were pretty shitty years in Vietnam for those who don't know much about the conflict. Haughey took all the negatives home, and they collected dust for 40something years until he began to have them digitized.

It's an incredible collection of pretty intimate images; I stuck 15 of them in here. You can look him up to see more, and he had a small exhibition going on in Portland, which may or may not still be running. It was/is called A Weather Walked In.
