Smokey Chuck
I have been sober for 10 months now and I'm a member of a 12step program.. I work steps, I chair meetings, I have a sponsor... Recently I took a trip to new orleans and I did some graffiti while I was down there... Didn't tell my sponsor. I don't feel like I owe an amends for it though, either. I'm pretty sure I can stay sober and keep doing graffiti. I was born and raised in Chicago and I have been getting up since 2005 although I did my first tag (with paint actually) in aprox. 2002. So needless to say, graffiti is a part of my life. I now live in a city with no graffiti and I want nothing more than to crush this city. I have painted a little here but I am afraid to paint because people in recovery know that graffiti is a part of my story and I don't want my identity revealed. I also don't want to do time for painting, which would surely happen here. Anyway I haven't told my sponsor about my desire to keep doing graffiti. I want to continue to work a 12 step program but I also want to continue painting. Has anybody on here been in this boat before? Anybody with any experience that can give me some insight? Thanks! injury
Don't paint graffiti in a clean town. Paint graffiti in a shitty place slightly outside the clean town. Like a bridge. Or freights. Or start doing meth. I did two of the above and it worked out great!

Mercer
I don't see why graffiti would affect recovery unless it's linked. Like if you did a ghost fill or tag, everything would be cool. But anything involving more than 2 colors made it mandatory that you fire up 5 grams of krillz or whatever. In that case just remember to keep it simple, focus on your hands and hollows and not the booze.
