Eugene and Portland are liberal to a fault....it's mostly a good place to be left alone, but there's a lot of ass-backwards people there. As long as you mind your own business and be nice to your neighbors, though, you get a pass. And not all of California is tolerant. The further you get from the coast you'll find people are just as thick-skulled as the rest of Amurica.
