I've been to some rough hoods in America, but there is still always some sense of security in America for the most part even in spots like Philly, NY, Chicago etc. But in places like Jamaica, and Favelas (as I now see) and other places it can get grimier than people know.......that's not a good thing. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, YES IT WAS HARD. THE GUYS FROM ROCINHA I PAINTED WITH DIDNT SPEAK A BIT OF ENGLISH AND I HUNG OUT WITH THEM FOR A FEW LONG DAYS. IT WASNT TOO BAD. BODY LANGUAGE HELPS BUT WHEN YOU HAVE 5 OR 6 GANGSTER ASS DUDES HIGH ON COKE IN YOUR FACE TRYING TO TALK TO YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE AMERICAN, ITS A LITTLE WEIRD, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE ALL CARRYING GUNS AND JUMPING AROUND ALL FAST AND YELLING AND SHIT. THEY WERE STOKED TO SEE ME THERE PAINTING WALLS IN THEIR COMMUNITY. I CANT TELL YOU HOW MUCH FREE WEED WAS PUT INTO MY HAND AS A SIGN OF WELCOME.
