upup&away
The last 3-4 years I have always owed 400-500 between state and the fed. This year I got my shit down (not claiming anyone) and am actually getting a return. 1452$ which I only get about a grand of due to back taxes. Jesus I hate taxes. I plan on picking up a 9 or 10 foot pontoon boat and paying off debt with the rest. Holler

!@#$%
no GlenQ. It's ther Making Work Pay ccredit and you get $400. You may have to file a long 1040, like i did, but i don't know.. http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=204447,00.html google it peeps. The Making Work Pay Tax Credit Information for Individuals Video: Making Work Pay Audio File for Podcast: Making Work Pay The Making Work Pay tax credit, normally a maximum of $400 for working individuals and $800 for working married couples, is reduced by the amount of any Economic Recovery Payment ($250 per eligible recipient of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Railroad Retirement or Veteran's benefits) or Special Credit for Certain Government Retirees ($250 per eligible federal or state retiree) that you receive. If you are affected by this reduction, you should review your withholding to ensure that sufficient funds have been withheld to meet your tax obligation. If you wind up owing tax because too little was taken out of your paychecks during 2009, you may qualify for special relief on a penalty that sometimes applies. ............................................................ don't worry about those special cases where it changes up cuz you got stimulus money or are a pensioner, i highly doubt thay apply to you

ImChristeezy
WHY DO PEOPLE GO TO H&R BLOCK. they RAPE you there. I go to my local IRS office, make an apointment with them and come back in a day or so later, they do them for FREE, and i usually get pretty good monies back, and within a week or two. ImChristeezy
Oh does anybody know what this might be.... I got a 1099 in the mail yesterday right before heading out to the IRS office and all it says on there is MAVERICK MEDIA, my name (spelled wrong) my SS# and other income: $1,000 as if i made some random thousand bucks somewhere.. now im freakin out cos i know i didnt make no money outside of the casino job i had AT ALL for ANYTHING. And this MAVERICK place is located in WESTPORT, CT. Im in Cali.. i dont knoooow? It better not affect my tax return.
!@#$%
if someone has your SS# you may want to put an alert on your credit report. a 1099 is interest income.. may apply to dividend and bonds too. do you have any of those? that said, if you are just going to the IRS office anyway I'd take it with you and tell them it's fraudulent. !@#$%
fuuuuuuuuu this isnt something they automatically do?cuz i already did my taxes..sorry if im not getting it all...i had norcos for breakfast.. it is NOT automatic. it was on the second page of my (long form) 1040, after you have figured what your gross income is, after all the places you can add earned income credit, it gets added into what you paid last year in federal taxes. so it is a very big reduction ($400) of your tax burden. figure it out or go to an IRS office or call them if you can't find it on your 1040EZ or whatever form you use. it is NOT automatic. FUCK MY DICK. I owe $647[/color]. serious? you do a short form or long? did you exempt yourself and take the credit we're all discussing? you must make a fuckload of money if you owe, or have barely paid in anything last year. (check your W4.. i have 0 state exemptions and 1 federal, yours might be fucked up)
!@#$%
oh and if you already did them, you can file an amended return. not sure if it's worth the effort but it is $
