Wow.

Did you... go for this when you took the photo? Did you take the picture? What's the deal with this?

And last but now least, what'd you see that made you want to take that picture if anything.

I've seen some great pictures in my opinion here but this one is ridiculous.

i'm looking for both a digital slr and a digital point and shoot, and have about $1000 to work with for the both of them. so far i've been thinking about the d50 for the dslr.

i have no idea about point and shoots, but i'm not too worried about them as long as i can get something decent quality for a fair price.

anyone have any suggestions?

the d50 kit is actually cheaper than the digital rebel from what i've seen. lenses might be more expensive, but i don't really plan on getting a bunch. just need a really simple set up.

the nikon stuff, especially the kits, are nice all around cameras... and the d50 is coming down in price everyday thanks to the come ups like the d80 and higher end stuff. yes, nikkor lenses will set you back, but really, who's going to go out and get an 18mm or a 400mm lens to shoot with? if you're looking for a good, solid, go to that isn't shit, the d50 will do. the lens it comes with is quality and (if it's the 28-80 i think it is) you'll use it literally 90% of the time you're shooting.

Which one, the drebel xt? It's a better camera than the d50 and sells for the same, and most often, cheaper. But yeah, the lenses are way more expensive. You might find that after a while, if you get more serious about photo you might want better lenses. Plus the kit lens is shit for both, at least when you compare them to any other walkaround lens. Just make sure you do some research of your own and check different stuff out and make the decision for your purposes like you said..its a bunch of money to throw at something, so you gotta make sure what you get matches your needs.
