  1. old gaurdian has lost quality over the years. I'd really suggest Old Crustacean, Bigfoot, Foghorn, and Hog Heaven.
  2. I'm curious to hear how the Southern Tier Milk Stout is. Let us know.
  3. I'm sure you can find it trading. It was $20 here in Oakland, so I shiver to think what the cost would be to you without it being a trade. And all that makes sense about the development of green glass in euro-beers. I also didn't know that they were using synthetic hops, that's crazyton.
  4. morimoto is a horrible beer. A few things to catch up on: Saving bottles: I like the visual history it presents me. Before Untappd and really cataloguing a lot of what I drink here, it was a nice way to see what I've had. We only kept special beers that we had only had once or so. Worked well. When me and the girl moved out of our last spot, I offered the bottles up to a guy who runs one of the nicer beer bars in Houston. He wanted em but had no room for it, so into the recycling they went. Cans V Bottle: I agree that there are all the obvious benefits of can over bottle, however there is one thing that I've wondered about for quite a while. For some beers which are green bottled, I think about whether or not there has been an accepted amount of light tainting that has become part of the expectation in how they brew the beer itself. That it's brewed to interact with the light such that it produces a specific flavor. I can think of a few that I wonder about that, mostly pilsners, or farmhouses, like that of Dupont, etc. Beerdicks: People are morons, always have been always will be. I've almost gotten to the point where other than close friends and on here, I don't really get into the beer talk anymore. Thanksgiving was a good example of being surrounded by people I wanted to drink and drink well with. Revised Thanksgiving list: 2012 Sierra NevadaNarwhal 2012 Embrasse Oak Aged on Ardbeg Barrels (this wasthe best scotch barrel aged beers I've ever had.) 2010 JesterKing Black Metal Stout 2011 Mikkeller Chipotle Porter 2012 Kriek De Ranke 2011 Birra Del Borgo Duchessic 2012 Brasserie Dupont Avec Les Bon Voeux Oly PBR I may or may not be forgetting something.
  5. My turkey turned out well. Brined for 12 hours in beer, apple cider vinegar, a fuckton of salts, herbs de provence, stuffed with onions, butter, mandarin. Then let it air chill, after the brine for a few hours. Then I roasted it at 325 for 3.5 hours. I also made: Turkey Rillete (From Gizzard) Crab Mac n Cheese (cheddar, emmetaler, parm reg and a triple cream bri, fresh dungeness crab) Stock (from the turkey gizzards, also used to baste turkey Green Bean Casserole Helped the girl make beans and buffalo for her empanadas. They were fucking amazing. This is the only photo I got of things:
  6. Been to the younger release a few years ago. These days, I'd rather drink a Blind Pig than an Elder. I'll report back about the Narwhal situation when I go grocery shopping later. Prospective Thanksgiving beers: Firestone IV Mikeller Chipotle Porter (year old) Jesterking BlackMetal Stout (2 years old, pre-farmhouse infestation at the brewer) gonna pick up some more from around the way.
  7. honestly, darklord ain't all that. i've had a few years in a given sitting and everytime i found other stouts we were tasting to be more enjoyable.
  8. Had a Serrano Stout from Green Flash the other day. Spicy, a nice mouth feel and deliciously deep in flavor. Good goddamn beer. No bottles, drank it from a growler a friend brought back from the brewery. Way good. I'm so glad it's stout season.
  9. i couldn't either the first time i watched it. decided to give it another go.
  10. the horror section is way win. I also have noticed that have some good soderbergh shit lately. Out of Sight was better than I remember it being: http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Out_of_Sight/18769558?locale=en-US I can't remember if the Girlfriend Experience was posted yet, so I'm not gonna all fail on linking things that have been already linked. Either way it was better than I expected. Seeing Sasha Grey not getting dick slapped everywhere was interesting. At first I thought her disaffected and monotone delivery was an aspect of her attempting to overact her character. But, upon further consideration, she sort of nailed it (rather than being nailed, EYO). It's worth the watch.
  11. KiR- that short reminded me a lot of "the fall" from Camus. The one sided nature of the conversation, interacting with intention, existential angst and social want all smacking of the sole speaker in the novel. Good words. Mad respect all over.
  12. Lurker- I've been there. Selection isn't bad, but a wee overpriced on some things. And I think you are right, I don't believe they bottle. john_gacy- Told you that narwhal was beastly. I had it at almost room temperature the first time, goddamn delicious. And lastly, I will always support Berkshire Brewing Company. Love that brewery, even if they didn't make solid beers, it'd just be for nostalgia's sake.
  13. that narwhal is stupid good. sierra nevada did a good thing with it.
  14. Turns out MOOOGLE's is the most boring feed out there. That would be fun.
  15. I would have loved to see the Eugene Mirman show. Actually, all the comedy you saw is worth the cost alone. I wouldn't have minded seeing Red Fang too, but you pretty much nailed everything I would have done, save give A$AP a little more time, probably. high five for your weekend. makin me miss texas, n shit.
  16. per my standard at this point: the_crooked edit- added you nurkas. I post boring things, like beer, and slices of pizza. but mostly beer, maybe some tomatos.
  17. where, if i may ask, are you at cilone? and fist, where are you these days? somewhat of a digression, yeah.
  18. not to sound like i'm giving some cliche criticism here, but the super distinct drips to the bottom of the canvas bother me.
  19. KOH- Everything looked great. It's awesome to see you progress throughout the years. High Five, dude. This one had me dead. Awesome: EDIT- OH, and that five month sleeve looked fucking great.
  20. Key words in my post "legit third party."
