Act the way we do and so forth. But what I think Jah is really after are what Makros so perfectly describes as Mall Goths. And since Makros basically covered it, no need for me to ditto his response. These kids seem to be the ones who starve for attention and make asses out of themselves. Hot Topic was made for them. Real Goths don't shop at Hot Topic. Real Goths probably wouldn't go to a mall for clothes. Real Goths probably wouldn't walk around all sad and gloomy starting shit with someone for no reason. So I think, Jah, it's the Mall Goths you want answers on. I will say that how a person feels or acts in your presence should be of no concern to you if it in fact it's not harming you in any way. If it's "visually" bugging you, look the other way. If you find that that's just not an option... then maybe you should deal with your own ignorance first. Then deal with theirs... NOW THE MALL GOTHS...(as i call them)... oh jeez mall goths should be baptized in acid... mall goths are what infected the goth culture like violent cancer spreading faster than diararre in a babies diaper. they wear black clothes, shop at commercial stores (like hot topic), listen to shitty mainstream mall metal (or sports metal haha) like korn and disturbed (which in my opinion isnt really metal...its more like poo poos on rap music). they also think they got the world figured out and they are above all when in fact they are fucking retarded. they develop an attitude that is incredibly unessesary. their friends are the main focus on their life because they are nothing without them, thus showing their insecurities. they also like to try to be sad and white incredibly cliche poetry and act is if their life is so incredibly miserable because they dramatize fucking everything. MERDER THEM. As for goths of today.... goth, somehow, got morphed and fucked with. i think its proper to call goths industrial and/or rave goths. somehow, people were branching off of gothic music to industrial music. industrial music got more techno like and thus making rave goths. so now at lot of these "goths" are all about raving and making websites because they think they are special and want attention or whatever. look at this. raving as compared to medeval times. what the fuck? NO. IT DOESNT WORK. raves didnt exist back when people were getting their heads chopped off for stealing bread. so here you see how that all got fucked up. FETISH SHIT... pornography is incredibly popular with people these days...fucking disgusts the shit out of me that this happened...but whatever... as you way have seen...there is some pornographic material with dark themes and this gets mixed with goth a lot. this isnt about being goth here...its about having dark desires. now...i dont know about this..i mean...i think rather dark, but i dont see why i would want some girl in tight black pvc shit tying me up and slapping my in the nuts and dumping candle wax in my ass while she whips me in the face with the tail of a dead horse. but then agian...we have people in america who also like seeing people have sex with animals and other fucking garbage...so i dont know much of what else to say exacept...fetish shit isnt goth...its just dark thoughts and fantasies. Kr430n5_666 Posted January 4, 2002 Share Posted January 4, 2002 real goths can show and listen to whatever they like...but i can almost guarentee they dont like commercial shopping nor music. a lot of goths just make their own clothes. i would say that if you dont dig goth music, dont like gothic clothing, dont like anytihng really about the medeval times, and dont feel any sadness...you arent goth. thats the thing with labels...they constict you. a lot of goths dont like the label thing and dont even say they are goth. those are the truest ones i beleive. the ones who flaunt it are kinda asking to be ackknoledged as "i listen to DIFFERENT music and i like DIFFERENT clothing and i am overall DIFFRERENT." well sure..maybe they are different from mainstream society, but flaunting your difference is a flaw in my book. dont flaunt anything. as for mp3s...i never really liked a lot of pure goth music...so i cant really remember any...i do like some gothic metal. tristania is some good gothic metal i like. ancient is another gothic metal band, but i dont like them. just go one www.besonic.com and search the gothic category...chances are you will find some real shit. you will know when you hear really depressing music with a guy singing all worrysome. haha. thats that. farewell. I have a friend that is goth, she dresses in dark colors, black hair, listens to siouxie and the banchees, the smiths, and all that crazy industrial shit. But this girl is cool as fuck.. she's not all about blaming the world for her problems and scowling at everyone who's hose dont have runners in them. She's just a normal girl, funny as fuck, not overweight tryin to shove a fat theigh in black vinyl.. she doesn't only talk to and hang out with other goth's, she's into indie rawk and she was all stoked on a BELA FLECK cd i played for her the other day. I got off track, sorry. My point is, she's good reguardless of if she dresses darker or listens to darker music, she's still a cool fuckin person.. Most goth people just make it really hard for me to like or respect them even the slightest bit. But then again, most goth people i've seen or met are the mall kind makros666 was talkin bout. I don't care much for his attitude or his morals and his image I can sometimes do without. Although at times I'm envious. The only true Goths I can think of are the Bauhaus lads. I think that was actually the beginning of "recognizable" Goth music as well. But I'd say Dead Can Dance and Elijah's Mantle are deep rooted in the scene whether they want it or not. Their music is definitely on point for that culture's "era". Even bands like Death in June, Sixth Com and Current93 are heavy Goth bands. Most of your Mallrat Goths wouldn't know what the hell you were talking about were you to mention any of those bands. Mallrats like the Slipknot, Dope and MM shok-rock. It's a far cry from what Goth once was and still is in cities like LA and San Francisco. I'd say real Goth is what you seldom see. Real Goths don't flaunt it. Don't advertise it. They just are. For the same reason you may be in to Hip-Hop or Hardcore. You enjoy the music, the scene and the people associated. You feel the lyrics to the songs. It's a mood you can associate with and understand. Something that you can be apart of and feel right. The outer shell is something that comes with the territory. Like FUBU or Bomber jackets for those cultures I mentioned earlier. Goth isn't something you try to understand. Neither is Hip-Hop or Hardcore. It's something you feel.
