theprotester
I'm a sparkling man, but I'll fight for any Coopers. Mild also is a great drop.
theprotester
Also lol at YH.
One Man Banned
Good to hear the endorsement on the Coopers, never knew if worth it or not. Very little from Aus/NZ here, over the years it's been West End Lager, Sheaf Stout, Steinlager, maybe one or 2 others.
One Man Banned
They giving credit to Don Martin somewhere on that label? Looks like they ripped off his cartooning style.
Hua Guofang
Yeah, first thing I thought of when I saw it as well. I'd expect so as it's not disguised at all, it's a direct copy. I forgot to look at the time. In Australia each state has it's traditional beers: NSW/Tooheys, Vic/Carlton, QLD/XXXX, etc. South Australia is Coopers. The rest of the state beers are cheap piss but Coopers is a high-quality beer. I had a 15 hour day this week, which ended in a large dinner (conference style, 250 people). A coopers was put in front of me and at that point in time it was the perfect beer and nothing could have tasted better.
Hua Guofang
High quality beer although not as heavy in terms of flavor and density (as in syrupy and stuff) as I prefer my IPAs. Much prefer their Mosaic or double IPA.
Hua Guofang
Decent beer, not as strong as some other similar IPAs but worth a glass. Had to be quick and unassuming taking these as not to look like a tool.
Hua Guofang
Wasn't too impressed when I first tried it, now I'd kill for it. Really deep and thick with strong citra, galaxy And Nelson sauvin hop flavores.
Hua Guofang
Quality beer but the toasted coconut (yes, part of the brewing ingredients) flavour is a but strong for my liking. Cool artwork on the can though.
Hua Guofang
Actually, can't see myself drinking this again. Just too sweet and coconuty. The flavour really doesn't suit the artwork......
theprotester
Have you tried Neil's Red Ale? Meant to be the best in Australia still.

Hua Guofang
YEah, I posted it a few pages back and you commented on it, ya senile old fart. Was one of the reds my wife bought me for Xmas.
theprotester
Haha just woke up from an old man nap too. So relevant. Carry on.
Hua Guofang
I think my fave reds remain Capital Evil Eye and BentSpoke Rednut. They are less Celtic Reds and more a red IPA. And yes, I know your feelings on the style guide and whatnot but a Red IPA is basically a hoppier red with a little less emphasis on the malt. Picture a milder American IPA with the crystal malt stuff - a cross between the two that is really nice.
Hua Guofang
Struggling to finish this Pina Colada shit.
theprotester
Yeah I am just a spectator anyway doesn't really matter what I think. I'm softening in my old age. If they are making good beer and you're enjoying it. Doesn't really matter. When style guideline judging is created on the back of a couple or sometimes one brand it does irk me. But that too I will get over. As for heavy adjunct beers they are very hit and miss and almost always the work of black hats rather than the poor bastards that have to brew the stuff. Hua Guofang
It's a beer, not a bad beer. Just a beer.
Hua Guofang
Speaking of red IPAs, this is a serious fucking beer. Heavy malt matched by a big hop hit. Not for casual beering.
Hua Guofang
Might have posted the Bling before. Usual US IPA, herby, bitter-sweet, syrupy and strong. The Coopers Sparkling is the Pale Ale's big brother. Fuller, more bitter flavour with 5.8 booze points. High-quality beer, still amazes me that this is a generic beer that is now an Australian export. It really bucks the trend, most export beers are all brand and shite quality. This one is the complete opposite.
theprotester
Coopers red as we called it when younger was one of the leading factors in regretful behaviour in my life
Hua Guofang
How bourgeois, mine was passion pop and fruity lexia. Was also due to Southern Comgord flogged from the old man's liquor cabinet. But that's only ever going to be a one time only event.....
Hua Guofang
What the hell is a comgord?
Hua Guofang
Decent beer but doesn't pack the flavour punch like that of a vale or sail and anchor IPA.
theprotester
LC has softened over the years. Bean counters be damned. I let the comgord go through to the keeper. Ha. In beer country at the moment can't believe how many are tapping these days. Best of luck to them I guess.
Hua Guofang
A hefty amber, heavy on the malt, burnt and a little hoppy.
Hua Guofang
Was interested as to what an Australian IPA is. Seems to be an IPA full of galaxy hops. This beer is no stranger to flavour.
