Mainter
one thing that makes me hesitant about being in this computer field i really enjoy working on computers for a hobby and so i thought to myself if i enjoy it so much get into the business so i can make money with it but on the other hand it will not be fun for me no more. i would not want to mess with a computer on my down time you think i should persue a career in this field? lord_casek
yeah, i am in the same situation. i do it for a living, just not full tmie, you see, i do others things as well. i am looking at possibly heading into it full fledge, as my other jobs kinda suck atm. tough decision. $25 an hour and up, but damn....so many stupid people. it really sucks to sit next to someone at their computer and listen to them tell you how they can't check their email any more since their grandson, uncle, brother, etc. installed such adn such....or they installed some such program that is supposed to make their dick bigger. something i always enjoy doing is showing them their porn browsing habits. heh....i'm a dick. so, in short, yes do it. make some money. hell, charge $35 an hour. p.s.: install key loggers and phish..... Quoted post yeah i do the porn thing to its so fuckin funny there like no whats this really i never oh my god whos been on my computer did you put this here they start sweating and shaking looking over the shoulder for the boss and the keylogger and shit i could careless cause when you go up to someone and you are like ok i need your password and username they tell you everything and if they don't you have them put it in (like you are suppose to) and then take them straight to the porn and say gimme your username and password or i am reporting you i love to watch them squirm :gaga: :shook:
lord_casek
haha, i was speaking of home computer users, but yeah, same thing happens...."must be my teenage son" riiiiiight, he's looking at over40.com or oldandwet.net sure. ok. oh, my favorite was finding a hirsute site on a relatives computer. i didn't tell them i saw what they were looking at, i just discretely deleted the history. i think that relative knew after that....seeing as how it didn't show up in the url bar automatically. btw mainter: what are your rates for home servicing? i'm charging $25 an hour for virii/spyware removal, and the regular maintenance type shit. i need to order some business cards pretty soon. one more thing: any idea of geeksquad, etc's rates?
mindvapors
you can make a living off of home virii/malware removal? i've been doing that for free for years.
Mainter
well cannot really comment on that so much for you because 90% chance you are using pirated software to do home repairs and if the feds show up there door which happens more then you think they just say hey i had no idea how this software got on my computer the first person they will blame is YOU!!!!! 100% guarantee (new orleans accent) and you will get bashed with the fees and jail time no questions asked but if you are doing it legal (good for you) the prices will range do to time and you can tax them on the software you use your gas to get to the home and any hardware labor like if you network wireless/wired connections in the house, sit and wait for an OS to load so lets put it this chrge between $45 to $
Mainter
spyware/adware/malware/virus you can charge them $60.

Herbivore
I have a question for you guys. I tried installing the game F.E.A.R on my friend's computer (it's a legitimate copy) but it kept coming up with an "access denied" error. After trying to search for a solution, I found out that it was trying to put something in the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents" but the folder, and its parent folders were set to Read Only. I un-checked the Read Only option and applied the changes, only to have it reset the value to true immediately after closing the dialog. He was logged in as Administrator, so it can't be a rights issue... and I can't think of what would be causing these folders to remain Read Only even after the Administrator tells them not to be. Any ideas?

Quoted post here is the best site to torrents http://torrentsearcher.filesharingplace.com/ the reason you are having problems is because the firewall at your work is blocking the ports that bitlord and other clients use to get a direct connection for you to download same with limewire the firewall is blocking you from loading programs from the outside world if you are using your own computer and using the works internet connection you are still using there security rights and shit
