It is used by various law enforcement and military forces, including the French Navy. The PM-5 is almost unique in that it has a detachable box magazine, while most pump action shotguns are built using underbarrel tube magazines. The detachable box magazine greatly improves reloading time and balance. The only drawback is the increased height of the loaded weapon, but it is not a major issue in most cases.
