  1. @SukiSukiNowif you do feel like learning to play something. its a pretty cheap instrument to pick up. you can get a fairly decent one off amazon for like 80 bucks. there are a couple in that range that are 5 star reviews. alot of people learn off youtube, and i think i could have struggled through that but i just hired a music teacher instead. it turned out to be alot cheaper than i thought it would be- works out ot like 20 bucks a lesson.
  2. tales from the tourbus was pretty great. burned through evil genius a bit ago..pretty crazy.
  3. Currently 38. I’ll give this thread a go with bullet points for the last 10-15 years. Graduated college. Moved to Atlanta 9/11 happened - barely could get work. Lived in a shit quadroplex was about to move to nyc when I locked down steady work freelancer motion designer senior motion designer married buy house to flip in a neighborhood that’s suppose to boom after a development bought a large chunk of land Downward spiral. housing crash, development never starts. House next to me auctions for like 27k. When that happened Reno had already gone beyond just selling and moving on. Creative director at small post house. Kid #1, finish house Reno- took 5 -7 years sick of not seeing fam, missing crucial years. Wife preg with kid #2. Realize no matter how well you Reno a house, a shitty school district can’t be changed. 6 months after being done with the Reno, Boss made a few shitty decisions and Now that I was in a clearer headspace, I decided I was fed up. Decide I could start up new shop, go back to freelance or get a gig elsewhere. Exhausted from working 5 times harder than we needed to, I went the easy route and took a job as a designer with our best client. Old boss offers me a partnership if I want to stay, too burnt out at that point. Put house up for sale, market bounced back a little but still took a pretty hard hit. 2013ish? Got misdiagnosed with a brain lesion and was a wreck for about 5 years - found out recently that it’s was just a cluster of blood vessels and nothing to worry about. Bought a house over a weekend visit to a place I hadn’t ever been. Turns out I got an amazing deal on a hard to get into neighborhood. House needs Reno work but nothing like the last one. Kid #1 had a speech delay and got tested/helped by the state to get back on track. She’s fine now. Realize now I’m almost stress free and can start painting a couple of times a year. Start skateboarding again. Start learning how to play an instrument Sitting in a bathtoom for the last 30 minutes reading 12oz and typing this reply on my phone. @misteravenI’m not so sure our argument against mobile devices is holding up anymore.
  4. Sure does mention Vancouver a lot.
  5. ZomgwtfBojanglesinhere. What drones are you flying? We use them a lot on shoots we do at work. A couple of months ago I reached up to grab one the pilot was worried they wouldn’t be able to land it over water, they neglected to tell me that it’s got to come in level so I reached out with one arm and pulled it from the air. It tried to autobalance back out and i got gnawed up a bit. Ive thought about picking up a dji but worried it’s a bit much to pay for something that I’m not gonna use to make $$$

PC Masterace. Mostly playing Blizzard games. Heroes Overwatch and Hearthstone. Haven’t touched WoW or Starcraft2 in a bit. Picked up gta5 and cuphead the other day on the steam sale. For some reason I play adventure capitalist from time to time although it’s just a waste of time. Rocket League is still fun for me too.
  8. Overall I think the site is fairly tame. They would have to get hooked and dig in deep to find something that would be questionable. My biggest concern about kids growning up these days is the amount of incest porn that’s going around. I agree with @mn1_fuckos you gotta come here because your wanting to learn some shit about graffiti and then you’ll find you way to other areas. Which brings this question to play. How would you feel about your kids painting?
  9. @SukiSukiNowthere’s definitely a lot of times it feels like I’m patting my head and rubbing my belly. You also use your hands way different. There’s times where I know what fingers should go where and I can’t get them to do what I want. Moving my ring finger without moving my pinky feels impossible. But I’m told I’ll get use to it, just takes time and repetition. Most of it is just repeating patterns and sequences.
  10. Yeah. Pretty much any guitar teacher knows uke. I haven’t tried to learn anything that sounds Hawaiian. Mostly rock songs that you can identify easily. Sunshine of your love, paint it black, typical beginner songs. ive been enjoying it a lot and this week almost started looking at guitars but then picked one up and realized it goes against my plan. I want something that I’m not going to take seriously. Something that I’m totally good with not being good at it. I wanted something that I won’t have a problem living up to unrealistic expectations. There’s something refreshing about starting something that I’m totally ignorant of and have no idea how it works. I keep it next to my computer and pick it up when I’m stumped on something or need a mental break. I’ll pick/strum a little and then go back to work.
  11. A few years ago I decided I wanted to learn to play an instrument and picked up a harmonica - it went nowhere. i chose it cause i wasn't sure if I really wanted to learn an instrument or if it was a phase. years passed by and I realized that now i work with a ton of guys that play a variety of instruments and thought i would capitalize on people being able to teach me stuff. So about 3 months ago, i bought a ukulele off Amazon and started tinkering around. realized that i wasn't learning anything from youtube channels and started taking classes about a month later. I went with a ukulele because it didn't seem as intimidating as a guitar. I don't understand anything about music and haven't ever played anything before. its got 4 strings instead of 6 and the neck is shorter so i thought it would be easier to learn due to my options being more confined. My question is has anyone else in here decided to pick up an instrument later in life? who else plays something/what do you play?
  12. @misteravenstart with this one or at the beginning?
  13. I’ve been thinking a lot about this and I’m wondering if maybe we are all using bad terminology. Is what we here today rap at all? Or to say that it’s rap but it falls into another genre. I’m slow to forming this thought but maybe we should stop referring to what is coming out today as rap or hip hop. Or maybe we need to label it otherwise like in rock or country. Country music for instance. You’ve got classic country, western, bluegrass, folk, outlaw, etc etc. there are plenty of people that love outlaw country that would happily tell bluegrass to go fuck itself. We want to just call it rap, and it’s now gotten to the point where it’s more complex than that. Whatever this is, needs to break into its own genre.
  14. This shit. I can’t believe we have known each other for so long and this hasn’t come up. Big Ace use to come through my home town selling cds out of his trunk to my brother for him to sell at his stereo shop. People would lose their shit over it. The way they would play a song, turn it down, freestyle and then bring it back up...They mixed it like you were in a car with a knob radio. There’s so much I love about how Lo-fi it was and how they made it work for them.
