@nicklesndimes

i love him! So much character.
easy-

take some leather gloves or

Old tee or

paper bag

or tongs

(use these or other objects to cradle the big guy hanging)

get long scissors or a knife. Either should be long enough to cut through with one cut.

clean the blades prior to cut.
alcohol is best

70%   Spray on blades and allow to air dry (at least 10 min [10 min with iso alcohol will kill most things. 70% because by the time it air dries the 10 minute contact time has done its job, 91% dries up too fast to kill)

support hanging guy and give one good cut.
as far down as you can.
Set aside the new cut.
existing plant in pot will eventually close up that wound in a few days.  The cut part of the new plant will also dry up and close in a few days. These few days are crucial to not get water in either open wounds.

the existing plant will respond to cuts and shoot off lil offsprings eventually. The new cut  plant will form roots. Put it in some soil when you see those roots.  I put it in soil before the roots and crossed my fingers.  I will be checking roots this weekend.
good luck!!

  • 3 weeks later...

The other night it fell below 50 degrees so I brought my plants in. Being they are mostly succulent, cacti with a fresh water I didn’t want to chance anything.

we pull saplings by the dozens everyday.
it’s really hard to pull one so perfect and toss it. A lot of us take home the healthy saplings.

here's another little teaser. this is a pepper plant that i am unsure of the variety. i did not knowingly plant it, the seed must've been mixed in with a batch i was given(well...traded actually).

ironically, it's one of, if not the, healthiest hot pepper plants in my garden this year.

notice the kinda purple color of the plant, compared to the rest?
