My favorite one from the DVD on them i think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlfYDEErYR0 The intelligence, mentioned above, is a pretty awesome band, from Seattle. I have a bunch of their stuff but i can;t find much online. http://vimeo.com/2568151 Also to be checked out are the A-Frames and Coachwhips. Similar stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsOOqWSaZzI Cant find any a frames Also thee Oh sees, Cant find any good ones on youtube rightnow Thee Headcoats and the innumerable other bands involving Billy Childish oops. boxcars beat me too it Kid Congo Powers (and the pink Monkeybirds) Was in Gun Club and The Cramps, both of which i think would also fit with this thread? rolling nowhere
Re: Motherfuckin' Surf/Garage/Psych Awesome Thread Full of Great i like legit shit. the ventures were the first surf music i listened to. its still great 20 years later. honestly why do i need to listen to some 2009 version thats just some lame version of a song they did like 40+ years ago? fuck music. MAR
Re: Motherfuckin' Surf/Garage/Psych Awesome Thread Full of Great i dont know who wrote it but i do know the kingsmen got screwed out of tens of millions of dollars on some bad contract Richard Berry wrote it. There was a lot of controversy about the song since no one really knew what it was about. The government even launched an investigation into the whole thing. It's pretty ridiculous. dirtydoses
Re: Motherfuckin' Surf/Garage/Psych Awesome Thread Full of Great The Sleaze - Smokin' Fuckin' Cigs Moronic, snotty garage punk from Minneapolis. The singer has what might be the most obnoxious voice ever, and there is a one note solo, but the A side is still retardedly catchy and gets stuck in my head for days. Its so obnoxious and basic that it's great. The Bside track is kinda weird. this is a current mpls band yes? i just remember seeing a group called The Sleaze open for hmmm maybe it was Vivian Girls, over the summer. if this is the Sleaze i am thinking about, i think i go to school with the drummer. random post. MrChupacabra
Re: Motherfuckin' Surf/Garage/Psych Awesome Thread Full of Great Yeah, they're a current band. If you get a chance you should definitely try to check out a Retainers and/or Sinks show. Drunken, drug induced good times. I think Sinks are touring until mid January though, so neither will be playing any local shows until after that.

MrChupacabra
Re: Motherfuckin' Surf/Garage/Psych Awesome Thread Full of Great Bump. Great thread. If you're into more punkish stuff, i definitely recommend you all at least grab the Retainers LP i posted. So good. The others are awesome as well, but the Retainers are a good starting point if you're not usually into the punk side of garage. So lo-fi, tons of great riffs, awesome solos, great for drinking to, and they put on one of the best shows i've seen. Edit: to clarify, i posted the records on the first page. Or second, i don't know. I still use 40 posts per page.

MAR
Re: Motherfuckin' Surf/Garage/Psych Awesome Thread Full of Great I'd say Eddy had a hand in inspiring more than just surf, rockabilly revival for sure, and a a fair bit of 60-70's rock too. The man is a mostly forgotten legend.
