Silba
that clutch is pretty extreme. those guys are building $60K engines. Yes, the block alone cost 11 grand. In the original thread on the Evo forums, they show the process of Making it, It's 2 stages, 2 weeks in the CNC machine, the turbo is also along the lines of 30 grand, so the block and turbo alone cost 40 grand. All the other mechanical stuff, Pistons, valves, camshafts, Valve Cover, Fuel Management, probally run well over 200K. Im guessing the smaller diameter of that multiplate clutch is to reduce rotational mass. Being that it is a multiplate, the torque-holding capabilities of a normal diameter clutch face are not an advantage. Is this accurate? Yes, with my limited knowledge of Clutch Tech this would be right. Extreme Tuning builds expensive High HP, high tech motors, they also have a stable of Escorts, Scooby's, and other crazy cars. BTW guys I'm stuck as to what car I should get, Evo8, Bug-eyed Scoobie, Or something older (SC300, 240SX) What would be the insurance range on a O3 Evo owned by a Teenager? Spring Break '92
BTW guys I'm stuck as to what car I should get, Evo8, Bug-eyed Scoobie, Or something older (SC300, 240SX) What would be the insurance range on a O3 Evo owned by a Teenager? As a teenager, get something older, work on it yourself, and LEARN. Im 30 and both the turbo cars Ive owned did not start out turbo. I resent the newer turn-key tuner cars that teenagers end up with and have no knowledge of the inner workings of. How hard is it to buy a factory turbo car and bolt on some aftermarket parts to achieve higher performance? My respect goes out to those who drive an underdog, and have done their own research and built a car in which form follows function, and does what they want the car to do for them not help them fit in to the internet car culture of hella-flush fitment, rusted hoods, bike racks, and super expensive wheels powdercoated in various pastels and neon colors.

Sounds good. I'll get what I can get my hands on though, not too pick as of, as long as it isnt FWD domestic.
Spring Break '92
Good call. If Ford would have marketed the Focus RS that would have been the shit, but thats AWD turbo and will never happen. Apparently Americans know nothing about rally and do not appreciate such cars. Or anything else besides stock car racing. Its got to piss you off knowing that our own domestic brands give overseas markets hotter shit.

Spring Break '92
The Focus was a UK Ford from the jump. I don't hate on any car just because of where its from. Where it comes from is irrelevant to me, hot shit is hot.

Spring Break '92
whats a staggard? Staggered wheel fitment is when you have two different wheel widths and offsets on each axle. For example, for my winter wheels I run Enkei RP01's in 17x8 +17 E.T. (15mm spacer) rear and 17x7.5 +23 E.T. (15mm spacer) front. Props to the VW/Audi guys, who have great taste in wheel offsets. I stay fucking amazed at how an unknowing individual can ruin a car's look with shitty wheel fitment. Basically, the Euro car guys have been up on fitment ever since every since and Japanese car guys (in the U.S.) with RWD cars followed suit. In Japan, RWD cars have traditionally sported low offset wheels. I mean crazy low offsets, like -20 E.T.

theprotester
You say it as if the Evo is some type of Hyundai Sonatra It's all good mate, I don't hate on the car, lord knows I've owned and driven enough turbo japs to have an opinion though. I don't liken it to a Sonata, but for me, I find it difficult to justify spending the equivalent of quite a few seasons of decent category racing in a modified Sonata, to build a car that wont classify or qualify for pretty much any recognised w2w racing. Sure it's probably a TA car? Didn't get through the whole thing. Power to him, but I'd rather spend the money differently.

I don't know what they use the car for, most likely drag since its running around 2k hp. BUT they dont really build cars for times, more along the lines of HP. BUT, this wasnt about the car. It's about the Technology, and development involved in that motor, F1 spec compressors, fully CNC'd block, c'mon thats amazing.
theprotester
Shit is insane, hands down. No argument from me. Some of the tech on that build is just mind blowing. Was worth reading at the very least. Horses for courses.
