The first portion of my trip i stayed in western Sumatra and well, didn't particularly want to be there. The people weren't exactly friendly and i pretty much just wanted to go home. Because of my dislike of the place, i took 0 pics. however, when i discovered i wasn't going to be staying in Sumatra the entire time since i didn't have the correct permits to do research, i started to feel a little better. Kota Agung: Not my fave place. WCS headquartes in Sumatra was based here Sumatran jungle from car yes, i was in these forests at night Sumatran graffiti So we left western Sumatra and went to Way Kambas, in Esatern Sumatra. So my advisor took me to her field site in Sulawesi mmmm indonesian food. this is when things really started lookin up and i finally got to see some damn tarsiers! cinchedwaist7 Posted September 24, 2007 Author Share Posted September 24, 2007 at this point, though, my advisor wanted to do her own research. so she hooked me up with a couple of guys she knows so i wouldn't be travelling around Indo by myself w/o being able to speak the language. And so, i was off to the Sanghir Islands. Mind you, this all took place in 1 month so my head was spinning. Now, whereas the people in Sumatra weren't all that friendly, the people in Sulawesi and Sanghir were possibly the nicest i ever met. my field assistant and a prized loaf of bread. My ojek (motorcycle) posse random cool kids/people Cloves laying out in the sun to dry. lots of chocolate laying around like this too [ fat ol centipede Not to mention, in Sanghir I saw tons of tarsiers. cinchedwaist7 Posted September 24, 2007 Author Share Posted September 24, 2007 going away party at this point i went to manado,sulawesi's big city to meet up with a different field assistant to go to the Togean Islands sleeping on indonesian boats is crazzzyyyyyyy i woke up to a rooster making noises in a box. so crowded and insane Manado we left manado to go to Garontolo, to leave for the Togeans.aHHH. we met up with some of his friends there, hung out alot, and almost got killed in a giant ghetto van. adventure, you know. chilllin remains of a portuguese fort. lil field trip we went on on way to togeans yes, it was nice boredom + waiting for boat + field assistant's name on way out of Togeans Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And the food wasn't all that weird, very similar to thai. ooo they had this stuff...gado gado. it twas flame. But they do eat dog out there, their just like any other kind of livestock. and yes, i went to find tarsiers so i could find my own population to study. then i decided nay to all of it. and yes, i am the piercing cw.
